I have a black and chrome model puchased in Oct. '70. The stock has recently cracked near the butt. Where might I get a new stock?

Does anyone know where I can find a document detailing how to disassemble this rifle. I have googled it with no results. Maybe someone has the original owners manual and would be willing to copy it for me ?????

If you must burn our flag, please wrap yourself in it first.

Yesterday was the first time i ever saw one of these Remingtons, was at the used gun rack at the local gun store.
I picked it up and drew a bead. I was instantly smitten with it, but did not know much about it, so i came home and did a web search.
This one was black and chrome, so it was either the apache or black diamond.
Guess they have not made these in a long while? They look damn near indestructible! I did not take it home with me but, maybe next week[:)]

Anyone have any interesting Nylon 66 stories? I grew up shooting one of Dad's that was made in 1959 and now have one of my own. I think the Nylon 66 is one of the best .22 autoloaders ever made.

LGS has an early,(no serial number) nylon 66 with original box and owners manual for sale. Rifle has no marks at all, perfect condition. It is the Mohawk Brown version. I can get this for 350. They also have a seneca green that is also in great shape with only a very few light marks on it. Price on the seneca green is 450, no box, no manual. I am leaning toward the brown because of condition and the box and manual. I believe asking price is a good deal, but not great, any thoughts?

    Sounds real good to me.

I'd pick up the green one too, as I 'need :)' a green one still.

The nylon it's a good price, are you sure it does not have a serial number. I know before 1968 some of them did not get stamped with the serial number. But Remington stamped serial numbers on the Nylon 66 in several places. Sometimes under the receiver, sometimes under the barrel. You would have to remove the barrel and receiver from the stock to see if it does not contain the serial number on it,

If it does not have a serial number on it, it is probably worth a lot more than what you were paying for It

There will be a two or three letter code on the left side of the barrel just forward of the receiver. This will give you the production year.Google 'Remington Date Codes', there are several sites where you can decypher the code. Also, have them remove the receiver cover and check for cracks in the stock(don't ask how I know this). Any Nylon 66 in that condition with box and papers is easily worth $350, probably a lot more.

My son tried to give me his Apache Black 66 he inherited from my ex-wife's father. I would not take it as he didn't realize it's value. I completely disassembled and cleaned it. X-FIL had never cleaned it.
By the way, since it really has no receiver, the metal cover over the action is considered by ATF to be the receiver. A simple stamped metal plate.

I have a Seneca Green Nylon 66, manufactured in November 1959, no (visible) serial number. I received it as a birthday gift in February 1960. It was neglected by my brother during my army years so it has a bit of rust pitting, but still functions perfectly and looks decent.

I've had two & no regrets about having sold them. I didn't like the way you have to load them & the sound from the hollow stock somehow bothered me.

Jim Stark who posts over on experts is pretty much THE authority on nylon rifles. If you have questions he would be the guy to ask.

Wanted one as a kid. Bought one at a local show fours ago for $110. Design makes scope mounting unstable. Not great for shooting. Not a collector. Sold it.

..I'd grab the brown one but it's near the top of the price
range, though the box adds a lot, depending on it's condition.
..My first new one cost my Pops $49.95 at the hardware store.
On a legal note, the sheet metal receiver "cover" is the legal
receiver, though you'd think the nylon that holds all the pins,
etc. would be. The gun will function without it on!
..Don't believe all the talk about not taking one apart. If you
pay attention to how everything relates to the next piece, there's
    nothing to be afraid of.

Put the MB nylon 66 on layaway for my son today. Rifle is a solid 99% and the box and owners manual are in great shape. It even has an older cleaning rod that was in the box. I've never heard of Remington including a cleaning rod so I assume someone left this in the box. Barrel stamped 22 LR with a code date of OL, which I believe is a July of 1964 production date. There is no serial number. Also the Seneca Green nylon that is for sale has a code date of DF which should put it at a September 1959 date. A very early gun. Seriously considering getting this one too.

..Just now looked up the date code on the barrel and found
that one of my two was made in June 1959. That's first year
production I think. Wonder if that would add any to the value..?
..It's the only gun I can still shoot very well with iron sights,
so I doubt if I'd part with it.

Had a brown one that started to double; it only did it with Winchester Super X .22s, but it's not as fast as a double tap from a GrendelP30.
A "licensed manufacturer" could do an experimental temporary conversion without trying too hard, then run it past a timer....
