My son lost 1 front tooth when a garage door spring attacked him. They implanted a new tooth 4-5 years ago. He's had zero trouble with it, never mentions it, and you cannot tell which one is fake.

Got one this past summer when a 40+ year capped tooth broke off.

Took a couple of months to get done, but I can't tell it from a real one.

I've got an implant in place of an upper right bicuspid. It works just like the original tooth. Right now I've got a gap where a lower left molar used to be. Soon as we've got about enough money ahead, I'll get an implant there too.

I had one done and they had to do a bone graft at the same time. It takes time as you have to wait for healing to take place between steps. It would take me a little time to figure out which tooth it was because I never notice it.

I had a molar done, & I am glad I did it. Sometimes a bridge is worth considering, it all depends on which tooth is missing, & the condition of the teeth surrounding it.

Some implant posts (like molars) require more jaw depth than, say, a bicuspid. That's why the dentist must X-ray your jaw to measure it.
The reason you have to wait many months after the post is implanted is that the bone actually grows around the titanium post, giving it the same strength as natural teeth.

Implants used to be done by oral surgeons, but other dentists are now doing them, especially the mini-implants that work best for uncomplicated cases.

You do have to practice good dental hygiene to prevent gum disease & infections. I brush with hydrogen peroxide 2-3 times/week.

Blenders are not that expensive. Also being able to put your teeth in a jar at night is an easy way to clean them.

My dad had store bought teeth at 50 YO, I am 54 with only 3 losses, I figure at this rate, I will still be eating corn on the cob when they roll me in the oven....

Just out of curiosity, why did you feel the need to include, "by a dentist?" [:o)]

I have 3. If you can afford it, it is worth the price. I agree with the others in that you don't know the difference with your real teeth.

Have it done by one of the "Sleep" dentists; got mine about 5 years ago without the little pill, and was kinda anxious when they started drilling into my gums and about halfway into my cheek.
Then I had to wait a coupla weeks before they could "plant" it, for the gum to heal & whatnot; still looks good, and it's cost me less than the bridge.
