The Senate rejected a call by conservative Republicans Tuesday to delay a guest-worker program until after U.S. borders are secured, marking a preliminary victory for President Bush in a tough election-year fight over the nation's immigration laws..

Um, in case you didn't know, Republicans control the Senate. This measure was passed because REPUBLICANS voted for it.

"Hours later, Sen. Byron Dorgan (news, bio, voting record), D-N.D., made an unsuccessful effort to exclude foreigners and recent illegal immigrants from a new guest worker program that could provide jobs for millions over the next decade. "This bill is going to allow illegal workers to come in stamped as legal," he said, but the vote was 69-28 to scuttle his amendment."

Don't matter much anyhow; it's the markup that gets passed, then they sneak in all kinds of additonal riders, then they send it to the House, where they work up their own version and vote on the markup, then they either pass it or deadlock, right about the time we have to vote to renew the franchises of these highly respected individuals.

Think it's bad now? What about a Gore/Klinton platform?!
If the Dems get their wish, and sieze the House or the Senate; your recently sunsetted AWB will be back with a VENGEANCE, Pelosi would be elevated to Attorney General, Feinstein/Schumer/Kennedy would become enboldened and assault YOUR rights faster than the NSA can say,"Which phone calls?".

If you're just noticing we have a Mexican problem; you're about 25 years too late, or live in Peru.
