Wind Flags??

As I've mentioned before,my bud and I have been doing some .50 BMG shooting recently. At the distances we are shooting there is a great difference in the wind speed, direction and gusts.I've been browsing the internet looking for a good wind flag to set out there with the target at around 500-1000 yards, but having never used one before I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.I'm assuming for this range I will need a weather vane type with the spinner on front and the tails on back.I was also interested in a flag for more local distances of say 100 to 200 yards, for this distance I could maybe get away with a nylon flag(not for the .50 but for .223-.308)?Any and all help would be greatly appretiated,Josey.
