How many of you guys strictly use handguns for hunting those Wrascally wabbits.....or just varmints in general? What do you use? what grain of ammo.. I have a colt semi auto w/bull barrel in .22lr I use for squirrels... It sure is a challenge. I also bring my ruger for the longer shots but I have been telling myself lately its more sportsman too shoot the close ones with the handgun.

lets all be responsible! shoot a criminal! Remember 0% of firearms pull there own trigger!

Setting the standard for varmint and hunting handguns

Mine is in .308 with the on/off muzzle brake and 2 stage adjustable trigger.

The bolt is on the left for a right handed pistol shooter and they hold 3 rounds.

    Chambered in .22lr to .308.
    Very accurate

Boy, Miss Creant, that's one ugly gun (on the front page of SavageArms' website). But, I bet it would be a blast to shoot varmint with!!

I still hunt with rifle and shotgun, but more and more I handgun hunt whenever possible. I have a Ruger MK II with a 5 1/2" Bull Barrel that I hunt squirrel and rabbit with. I use Winchester Super X .22.
I also hunt Deer during Illinois' Handgun season. I use a 6" Colt
.44 Mag. Anaconda topped with a Tasco PPII red dot sight. Federal
240 Gr. JHP are extremely accurate in my Anaconda. Thinking about getting a TC Contender due to the multiple choices in barrels.

I'm thinking about a XP 100 in 6 PPC. Keep 'em hawgs fat! I'll bring the 7MM Mag for them.

Savage did not set the standard for varmint hunting handguns!! Remington did with xp-100'S!!!! If you want a thrill shoot a groundhog @300yds+ with a 7mmBR and a 120V-Max with holosight!! If you want a hand rifle try one in 223 with a high quality scope!! The 223 kind of takes the sport out of it for me as it will shoot 6/10s off the bench at 100yds!! However my 13 yr old daughter wants a Striker in 22Mag. Being the good gun loving father I am she'll ptobably get one unless they chamber it in 17HRM soon!! Thought I would poke a little ribbing at you!! Don't be offended just keep dusting them varmints! GHD
