Have you tested the 6mm yet? I've been poking around the auctions and didn't see you selling any 25.06's yet so I wasn't sure[:D] Just put in the request for a #8 Shilen Match Select with all the fixin's in 6mm. Action's going to them next week and they should have it built by the middle of March. My uncle is already registered to use it in a match in the middle of April so I hope it gets done on time[:0]. I'll post the test targets after I get it broken in properly (got any chicken feet and knuckle bones?[;)])

What were the results of your wind drift experiment on the .17HMR the other day?

On another note, Remington is asking for suggestions (VOTES) on which caliber to bring back into production this year for the model 700 Classic. You can go to their website and vote. I voted for the .222 Rem Mag.[:)]

ECC, When I got to the bench it was late in the day and the wind had died down so there wasn't a "testable" situation! Actually it was quite still and I did shoot the rimfires a bit. The Remington 22 Magnum load using the 33grVMax turned in a pretty good group at 100 yards considering the rifle is a 597! It shot a 1.2 inch group and the Winchester Supremes did about 3 inches! Yesterday was absolutely beautiful here and I spent the afternoon at the bench shooting a bunch of different rifles and got to chrony the rimfires. The 33 gr VMax did 2250fps and the new Federal Vshock 17HMR did 2699 from the Marlin VS and also did 2427fps from the Savage Striker.
Yes I'm going to put a vote in for the 222MAG also! I'll bet that is the one they choose also! With Ruger bringing out the 204Ruger which is based on that case, they will bring it out I'll bet! Now if they would chamber their new Light Varmint in 204 Ruger and their new rimfire bolt in 17HMR!!!!! GHD

Sorry to but in,but I really dont think Ruger has evolved a new cartridge.Im as Pro Ruger as they come, but look at the .218 Bee or the .17Remington.I cant see how to push a small projectile (Bullet)that fast and it be consistantly better than either the .218 Bee or the .17 Rem.I may be way wrong, but I dont see a place in the market for the new Ruger cartridge??

If I were a betting man, I'd put a wager against that. Both the .218 Bee and the .17 Rem are in limited circulation. The 204 could very well become the latest craze...especially with the increased popularity of varmit rounds. I really like the sounds of the .17 Rem myself. One of these days, I want to get my hands on one.[:)]

ECC I hope your right, was thinking a few days ago with the new cartridges like WSM's,WSSM's and RUM's will the guns we now know and love today be obsolete to the next generation?Im lazy today does anyone have ballistics on the .222 Magnum?I guess my books list it,but not sure?[?]

Rugster, All your books ought to have it listed! It's not that obsolete!![:D][:D]It will be just a tad(I'm talking 50fps or less) better than the 223. Just a very little difference in case capacity. Mine has a 20 inch barrel on it and shoots the 40 grain BT at 3466 and into little bitty groups! .3 is normal and it has a bunch of .2's and did a "screamer" at .089! I let 4 different people who had never touched it or even seen it shoot it one day and all four shot groups in the .3's! This one is probably all I need for groundhogs up to 400 yards but then I wouldn't get to waste all this time and money dinking around with the rest of them! GHD[:D]
