Great AZ Dove Hunt

Just got back from a morning dove hunt and I had the best time ever. This is only my second year hunting dove and today I got my limit of 10 birds in 16 shots. That's my best ever, it feels good to take 3 boxes of shells and come back with 2 and a half. Just thought I'd share my morning with you folks.

Garand, GREAT SHOOTING!! Here in the east we can't hunt them until after 12 noon until the late season. I figured since they were federal migratory birds the rules would be pretty much uniform. But I see you have a 10 bird limit and we have a 12 bird limit. Used to be 18 but dropped down 25 years ago. I think the limit ought to be 40! It would make the hunts last a little longer! GHD

    Dads-freehold,
We were shooting right outside of Tucson, good little spot we found that nobody goes to. Farthest out from Tucson I have ever gone was Coolidge.
You're not kidding groundhog, me and my buddies limited out after about 25-30 mins. First time I ever got back from hunting at 7:15.

And you guys have several million more coming. We are having one of those rare summers where we didn't have the late August cold snap. The doves are still swarming here, very unusual. I can't find anyone to eat what I shoot anymore so I don't shoot them. Not up to the likes of a Texas Whitewing but still, a lot of fun to shoot at.

whiteclouder, Put em in a crockpot with some original KRAFT'S Bar-B-Q sauce and let them cook all day while you're out working! Make you smack yo mama! The limit I spoke of is 12 but I think that is per gun! Not really but take 3 or 4 guns if you're in a good shoot!! Being the sportsman I am, I have to do a lot of R&D on load development for various guages and barrel combinations! Anyway them birds command a lot more appreciation on the dinner plate than them alfalfa eating, corn fed 4 legged varmints known as "whitetails" do!! Yea, I said VARMINTS!!! That television commercial about 1 in 5 hunters killing a buck makes me laugh! As I'm writing this there are 5 bucks outside the back door eating my alfalfa and 3 of them are 18" inside or better! The other two need to grow another year! They just lost their velvet in the last 10 days or so and the testosterone is kicking in. Fun to watch them spar and fight for a few weeks! You can hear the rattling of the horns from a good 3-400 yards when they get wound up!
