As far as the Corps goes, we dont actually get issued one, at least not that I have ever seen. We have a bayonet for the M-16. Some guys carry a personal Kabar, others rely on the bayonet itself. I dont have a personal knife I carry, but if I did, it would most likely be a Kabar, its just tradition. I have my father's WWII trench knife, that I really like the feel of, and if allowed, I'd carry that, its pretty slick feeling in your hand. I have an engraved Kabar on a plaque, but I dont think I'll be using that for anything. I'll be willing to bet you that your company sells more of those knives for plaques than they do for actual field use, thats kind of funny. Dont forget I'm Motor Transport, not a grunt, so I could be wrong about the knives we carry or are issued. MT doesnt carry a knife.

    Pa,
I posted a reply a while back and wrote about my dads K-Bar he was issued in WWII as a UDT/Frogman. It was stolen by my ex-wife. This K-bar came in a gray bakelite sheath with web belt loop and tie downs. Have you ever seen pictures or anything of a K-Bar like that?

Ryan, if MT doesn't carry knives, how do you slash the tires on Army trucks?

You must have forgotten, we're Marines, we do it with our teeth! My son has an Army tire for a pacifier, makes for strong teeth!!
