I think this thread has gone around before but when I searched I didn't find anything so here goes again.Do I have to pay sales tax if the dealer is outside my state and has no physical business location in my state? Dealer is in PA, I'm in WI.I'm not purchasing the rifle via his web site (I don't think he even has one) but going to call him up today to complete the deal.GL

I've done transfers while living in three different states and have never paid a dime in sales tax. Ask the seller to mail the receipt to your home and specifically request that it is not shipped with the gun. Your receiving FFL dealer will not know what you paid.

IDSMAN75 GOOD ADVISE. I always ask the seller to personally invoice me. Not only for tax purpose, but I also deal with my FFL. If he knows my buying price, it takes "dealing" out of my deals.

Good News! The guy didn't charge me any tax. I would have protested anyways and probably taken my business elsewhere. And, he didn't charge me an extra 3% when I payed by CC! Shipping only amounted to $15. Didn't bother with having him invoice me only so the transfer dealer doesn't know what I payed. I didn't really care if they knew or not. I'd already talked to them about finding the gun for me and the impression I got was that by the time they found one it'd have been probably a good $100 more than the one I'd already found.
