No Groin Shots: Olympic Figure Skating Update

There have been recent rumblings coming from the powers-that-be in the Olympics. Apparently there is a movement to ban all figure skating moves that provide gratuitous groin shots (upsidedown splits, female partner held above male partner's head by groin, etc...). Such prohibited moves are said to bring a point detuction of .1 each.

    Oh brother. Too bad they don't have Bert Parks to kick around too. I guarantee I've never seen a man's hand on a woman's groin, or vice versa, in any skating event. You'll see the man hold a woman with his hand on her tummy, or with his hand straight-armed into her hand, but you won't see him touching so-called private areas. As for the splits, well, I guarantee there's nothing erotic going on in any skater's mind -- they're too busy with the athletics. Sounds like the problem is in the mind of the beholder -- or the rule-makers, in this case.

    This means I can't watch a quarterback take a hike from the center. Or a weightlifter do a squat and thrust (just the name of the maneuver should be outlawed if we follow this course) and for sure we've seen the last of the ballet. Oh ,well, I wasn't going to pay much attention anyway.Clouder..

    Since Figure Skating isn't really a "sport", I will be watching manly events where they don't wear sequins on their clothing and throw flowers at the participants after the competition....Hockey comes to mind. Name me another event where the participants are missing most of their front teeth?...besides, have you ever seen a Figure Skater do a beer commercial? What will we do with those terribly vulgar baseball players that continue to scratch their crotch's while spitting chew and making leud hand signals betweeen their legs?

    I heard about this particular tidbit on the radio today and I INSTANTLY thought about Rembrandt's previous post about figure skating. I was inspired by the pot-stirring that such an innocent post initiated and posted this thread at a feeble attempt to carry on the spirit. The weekend's sporting indulgences include a Sioux City Musketeers hockey game (if they have a home game tomorrow night) and then the obligatory Super Bowl on Sunday.
