Sorry about the ong wait. I was caught up with some livestock problems the past couple days and was too tired to get on the board. Here is all the info that i can find on the rifle. The serial number is ORN8491. Than above that is the letters or words ROMA Then the numbers 918 above that. The lettering is all placed on the barrel right next to the reciever. The barrel is thread to the reciever because the barrel has a half octogon for tightening the barrel. The bullets are fed through a strip clip so i would tend to believe that it is a military rifle and foriegn as well. The caliber for what i could measure from the end of the barrel is 6.5 mm. No safety is found on the barrel or reciever. The bolt comes out of the reciever after the bolt is opened and the trigger is depressed. THis is all that i can thnk of right now.thanks many times for your help and replies.songdog

wild guess 6.5 Italian Carcano, safety should be bolt mounted striker blocking type

Tailgunner- A 6.5 carcano was one of the types that i had sort of narrowed it down to as well. Was that ammo readily available in a strip clip feeding rifle? I think that at the nevt gun show I will buy a single case of every 6.5 mm case that i can find and see which one fits the rifle. Then all i will need to do is find the clips and make a stock for it.much appreciated, songdog
