I don't know about a book, but I won't take any bets on his life expectancy in prison.

Well, it has begun. Walkers puke lawyer made his ststement. JOHNNY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!! With all the 'Reality' shows on now, one of the networks should get to put a camera in his cell. Then let the audience vote on his cellmate for a week out of a group of prisoners. No forget it....he'd probably like it.

The last time I knew it, this was still America and the last I heard, John Walker Lindh was still an American. I am appalled that an Ex-patriate American Citizen like John has been denied legal counsel. I thought you all would have supported a fellow American a little more.

H probably won't even see jail in the end. Maybe he'll get time served and probation, and then he'll be on Rosie explaining why big bad evil America drove him to take up arms with the Talban.

As a citizen Mr. Walker enjoyed the right to free speech, freedom of religion, and all other rights guaranteed under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Mr. Walker also enjoyed the right to travel and study his chosen religion in a distant country. (I use past tense because I believe Walker is no longer a citizen.)Taking up arms for the Taliban likely wouldn't have been looked upon with great favor by U.S. officials (if they were aware), but it probably wouldn't have affected his status as a U.S. citizen... Until he fired his first shot at U.S. troops.Mr. Walker has admitted awareness of terrorist plans against the U.S. prior to 9/11. Further he has expressed support of those actions and he continued to act for the Taliban after 9/11. Some would call his actions bad judgement and I'd have to agree. Past that I can only draw two conclusions...1. By taking up arms in support of the Taliban, John Walker gave up his U.S. citizenship and any rights he enjoyed under U.S. law. Thus, he should be treated the same as any other Taliban.2. By the act of joining and supporting forces of a foriegn nation against the forces of the U.S., John Walker has branded himself a traitor. As a citizen, Mr. Walker should be subject to the punishment defined under U.S. law.I prefer the first opinion as I believe it would best serve all interests. Mr. Walker should be treated in the same manner as all Taliban POW's, subject to Afghan law, and dealt with in accordance with their decisions. He should also be made aware that he will be watched for the rest of his life and that any attempt to harm or injure U.S. interests will be met with fatal consequences. In short, Mr. Walker should have been offered the opportunity to step out of the plane somewhere over the mid Atlantic.

Probably the mushbrain 'kulture' of KA ought to suffer the same fate, but he took up arms against the country of his birth. IMHO, thus forfeiting his citizenship. He's entitled to whatever legal protections the rest of the Al-Queda / Taliban scum are due . . . no more, no less, regardless of his native language. Although I would like to see him incarcerated in a military prison; the taxpayers would not need to pay his room and board very long . . . .

I thought Walker renounced his US citizen ship? If he did, why is he entitled to a trail? Put him with the Afgans in Cuba. The news media and talk show hosts make me sick. Sweet, misguided young child, my *!!!!

I don't know why we didn't just let the Northern Alliance deal with him. Merely joining another nation's military is an act of renouncing citizenship. Someone should have "accidentally" let him escape just so that a Northern Alliance soldier could take a cheap shot. He's barely worth the bullet but now we are going to spend millions on his sorry rear end.
