I need some suggestions for a tumbler, anyone have any input on this? I've been looking at the Midway site and think that I've settled on thier 1292 model- Does anyone have any experiance with this model or with Midway equipment? How about any warranty & customer service info in general?

Thanks in advance ya'll!!!

Matt

I've used Midway's tumblers for many, many years. Had one fail and they promptly replaced it. The current ones have thousands of hours and still run fine.

I use the RCBS Sidewinder tumbler. Have had it about 12 years or so and it has never failed.

    Uh, Gee- Thanks(?) Saxon!

    Rugster, Shootist, Allen-
I have heard some about Midway tumblers and to the best of my knowledge they are very much on par with RCBS & other more expensive tumblers- Is this the case or is it one of those "you get what you pay for" scenarios??

Go with the midway - with their warranty you can't go wrong and why pay more for a "name"

Probably the same company making the same tumbler for everybody and just putting that particular company's name on it. PACT makes the digital scales for RCBS they just paint them green and put RCBS on those ones.

I have had good luck with my Midway vibrating polisher. I have used it for years. People call these tumblers, but technically they are not. When I first started using polishers, I bought a Thumbler tumbler which had a rubber coated container that is rotated by an electric motor. It has been gathering dust since the vibrating polishers came out.

    Hello Matt45

I am going to have to respectfully disagree. I have have several Midway 1292's. With the "plate" on the bottom to "muffle" the noise, they will eat motors like chocolate chip cookies. I will have to confess they were placed under extreem use, all day, everyday for 3 to 4 days in a row.

If you get one, take that stinking plate off the bottom and put the rubber "feet" back on and set it on something that will allow an air flow through it. DON'T set it on carpeting to "muffle" the sound.

I will also have to say that Midway backed the warranty up and never quibbled --- just had me send the one with the burned motor back and sent me another one. But I was out of action in the mean time.

My Tumbler's Tumbler Model B --- runs day and night--24/7. It eats a belt about every 6 months to a year. But it is much quiter than a vibratory tumbler and has been more dependable.

    Best Regards

Matt let me look around my storage areas to see if I still have my old Lyman vibarator that I used before I bought my RCBS tumbler. If I still have it you can have it.

    Allen-

I'm genuinely touched, (NO, REALLY! Some say I'm waaaaaaay touched!)
Seriously, I truly do appreciate the offer, that would be awesome!
    Please drop me a line:

    AdamsQuailHunter, Pearyw, Shootist3006-
I'm almost afraid to ask, but how many rounds a year do you guys re-load? From some of the responses I'm thinking my idea of reloading and some of ya'lls ain't quite the same?????

I'm happy to crank out 500 or so pistol rounds in a 4-5 hour night, and that's including having the wife help with priming the brass.

I've got a midway, the one that came with the moly kit. I don't know how many hours I have on it but alot. I had to do some minor modifications to it. It broke once, nothing major, just the power cord came off the motor, cause it was mounted thru the moving top half. I drilled a hole in the bottom, re-ran the cable, and no more problems. I've been using it for a couple of years now, but I not only polish brass with it but have other bowels of various media for polishing small parts and even rocks. I'm still hoping this one will finally give out because I'm trying to find an exuse to get a bigger one, I'm planning on getting that large dillon model along with the large media seperator next.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

    Lee-

I'm kinda curious about the Moly-kit...Guess I've had my head in the sand, but what's that all about?? Is it in reference to moly-caoted bullets???

SP, You beat me to it.

    Lee, I have never used
quote:bowels of various media for polishing anything.

Matt, I use an old Thumler(sp) vibrator type that I have had for several years. It works great. I wonder if they make the Midway model, looks the same except for color.

Don't send flowers when I die. Send money now, I can buy more ammo.

    Allen-

No sweat, I appreciate the offer all the same!!! That just means I'll have to save my pennies and dimes a little faster!

On the other hand, DeeCee may be onto something, I think I have most of what it would take to do that...

I have used Midway tumblers for some time and currently have 4 of them. I first bought one of the 2092 large tumblers and had the motor mounts break Midway quickly repaired it to a bullet proof status and my small 1292 tumbler have thousands of hours on them with no problems at all. Midway backs what they sell under their own label.:D
