Josey1, I appreciate that you try to bring us "news we can use", but do you suppose you could cut down on your postings a little? Actually, about 50% wouldn't hurt. I don't get over here as often as I might, largely because I have to wade through a lot of C&P clutter.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to infringe on your free speech or anything. You may remember when Josey2 (whoever he was) came on to harrange you, I was one of those who stood up for you. It's just that there are a lot of posters on this forum, all of them have something worthwhile to say, but I often can't find what they post because it's two or more pages back. C'mon, show a little "Nettiquete"...

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.--Voltaire~Secret Select Society Of Suave Stylish Smoking Jackets~

    Josey1,
I scan your posts, pick out whats interesting, just like the rest of the posts, look at what peaks my interest and ignore the rest. I like your posts, its like CNN in print, geared for the gun enthusiast. I suppose if your addiction is posting the news, its better than any other addiction, sure beats the heck out of spending too much money on guns like I do. The forum needs to go down for a day or two, so everyone remembers what it was like before without it, I know one of the things I missed was your posting.

    Post away Josey1,
    VCDL Update #18 5/3/02

    1. Norfolk gun ban status
    2. Richmond gun ban status
    3. Henrico
    4. Raffle status/meeting on web with pictures

    1. Norfolk gun ban status

I have had not official comment from Norfolk since the new preemption
bill was signed. A few members said that they were *not* asked about
weapons and a recent computer show at SCOPE. I wrote a letter to the
City Attorney's office asking them what they were going to do now
that the Governor has signed preemption into law - obey the law or
continue disobeying it. I will let you know when I hear back. I am
thinking of possibly attending a city council hearing in Norfolk to
bring this up if we don't get satisfaction from their Attorney's
office. If I do so, I will put a call out to people in that area to
    come and show support.

    2. Richmond gun ban status

As I mentioned in an earlier alert, Richmond has a no guns sign in
their city counsel chambers. Upon calling them and working with an
exceptionally nice young lady, I found out that: 1. No one would lay
claim to those signs, 2. They were put up after 9/11. 3. THEY ARE
NOW DOWN. If someone can check to verify for me, I would appreciate
it. As far as the Richmond Parks, they are still all messed up.
Some have no signs, some say no guns, some say no guns except by
permit. I am also thinking of talking at an upcoming Richmond city
council meeting. Again, if I do so, I will put out a call to people
in the area to come and show support.

    3. Henrico

Henrico is still not issuing permits within the 45 day legal limit.
Some are taking from 60 to 90 days. The main judge, Judge Tidy, is
not issuing permits until he gets back the background check no matter
how long that takes or what the law says. VCDL is continuing to look
at its options on this. I can say this - we are tired of it. I will
advise once VCDL finalizes a strategy. For those of you who have had
or are still in the process of having this problem, it might not hurt
to contact your Board of Supervisor member, your state senator, and
your delegate and ask them to help you. Maybe Henrico needs to feel
    a little grassroots pressure.

    4. Raffle status/meeting on web with pictures

The raffle status is up on the web page, along with some pictures
taken at the meeting. Here is the link:

VA-ALERT is a project of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, Inc. (VCDL). VCDL is an all-volunteer, non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to defending the civil rights of all Virginians. The membership considers the right to keep and bear arms an essential human right.

Hey Wiz: Why would you assume that folks who like to read Josey's posts don't do any research for themselves? I search news on the internet, watch TV news, read three newspapers every day AND find Josey's posts interesting and informative. I'm sure a whole lot of gunboard friends do the same.

You should be careful you don't injure yourself with one of those violent knee-jerk reactions.

    Hey lowrider,
Whizbrain is just being his usual idiot self. Ya know what, I am just about to the point of throwing professinalism to the wind here. I may just start calling the idiots by name when appropriate. Hey Whiz, you are 100% correct, no one has nearly the plan you have, just sit here on GB and antagonize people with no reason to do so, just to be a prick, good plan. Where is Mr. Rather when I need him?
Whiz, I wonder, where do YOU get YOUR news from? Since you dont trust Mr. Rather, you have a better source? Do you read newpapers, printed by more reliable sources? Do you listen to radio stations that never embelish the truth? Or...is it that you have the one and only source of information that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. No wait, I know, you see everything first hand, because you dont believe anything the media puts out. You go do the research yourself, dont believe any report you read, hear, etc., unless you have done the RESEARCH yourself. Your level of rationalization and deduction is somewhere between that of psychotic and a moron, that is the conclusion I have come to from your posts. If I am wrong, my apologies, but if I'm not, try posting nicely, without antagonizing and patronizing comments like the one above. You took a perfectly well worded post and expression of opinions and turned it ugly, and I feel obliged to put you in your place, turning things even more ugly, cause I'm sick of this crap you insist on leaving here.

i say it's 30 days until josey1 is top poster and in 6 months he will be twice as many as number 2 guy. i wish he actually had something to say. i find 90% of his posts in other sources. some people live to cut and paste. i bet he forwards all of theose dumb rumors and bad jokes to his friends on his email too. you know the ones with 500 addresses at the top of the page. i look at maybe 10% of his posts. but as long as it doesn't violate forum rules he can post all he wants no matter how mind numbing it becomes. sorry i can't quote someone.

    So, Hacker....
What you are saying is that 1 out of every 10 of Josey1's posts are interesting enough for you to look at. Also, from what you wrote, you havent found 100% of the info. presented here anywhere else, so that 10% you look at should prove a valuable tool in your news gathering/learning repatoire(?)-spelling? I would say that is enough reason for me to appreciate him posting them. As far as the stars go... seems you are awfully concerned about them, why? Is it that you are not as sparkly as Josey1? The stars mean nothing and we all know it, you should too by now. That all being said, for a man like Josey1 who, according to you, has nothing to say in his posts, you sure put up a lot of fuss about what hes saying...IN THE 10% THAT YOU READ. Maybe its just me, but...me thinks thou dost protest too much! Maybe I should have just read 10% of your post, and it wouldnt have mattered to me? For everyone else that seems to be on the Josey1 firing squad, whats up? I've been silently viewing threads that start out...A DUMB QUESTION....ANOTHER DUMB QUESTION, and that didnt seem to bother anyone. We've been talking of stretching a string from one end of the universe to the other and still no one has said anything. So why Josey1? WHY? Oh never mind, that was a dumb question, I should know by now, some people just dont have anything better to do. Josey1, thanks for the info./news/reading material. I like it.

Oh yes, Mr. Griggs, Josey1 isnt reposting other peoples thoughts, Josey1 is posting news that is of interest to some of us, and obviously it is interesting to some of us. I personally think a few of you are lying about having read a large percentage of what Josey1 has posted somewhere else. If it were true that you have already read it, then it would be a lie that you dont find his posts interesting, or why else would you have already read it? Things that make you go HHHMMMMMM......

I read a lot of Josey1's post. Those that don't interest me I pass by. Josey1 also puts his source in to back up his post. If it gets to be too much than maybe Josey1 should have his own section on this board. I would go over to see what was on there. I like somebody doing some of the research for me. Personally I still have a life and can't do all the research myself.

    Josey --
I too think some of your posts make good topics for discussion. I would hate to create a new forum called "news clippings" because I might not get over there to read them, so here, although they are plentiful to the breaking point at times, I still appreciate them... I DO WONDER if Admin couldn't make a special exception though and flag your posts somehow, maybe with a different color type, so that they are easier to identify. This seems to me to be a perfectly reasonable request to help those who would like to be sure they are seeing all the 'in-between' notes from other posters. Can we get any help in that regard, Mr. nunn?

i am not sure why sgt roberts is getting all over me. i only said that i would prefer it if josey had something of his own to say. i read these posts because i am interested in what the people here have to say and think. i can get the newspaper clippings from someplace else. i agree that the stars are meaningless except for seeing them as a record of the member's contribution to the discussion and i am not sure if cutting and pasting news releases counts as joining in. i would be more interested in reading josey's thoughts than in reading a news story. or at least i would like to read his comments on the story. if he felt strongly enough about it to share how about some personal observations on the issue? i would enjoy his posts much more if he shared the items by telling us in his own words about the events rather than just copying them. does this violate any copyright laws by the way?

I do like it. But there is a huge difference between a liberal who is offended by a user name and the use of profanity towards another member.

You assume that my user name is somehow connected to the KKK, you are wrong. Do you run your life by assumptions, you must or you would not be making such a big deal out of nothing. If you are offended so easily by a simple user name then you need to get a grip on reality.
