YAHOO! Gonna take the boy out with me and hope to bag a few bushy tails! I LOVE this time of year. Nothing like the first squirrel hunt of the year, even if it includes tons of bug dope. I will let you all know how we did. I can taste that fried critter now. MMM MMM GOOD!

Well, I was using a huge, manly beastly Winchester 1300 12 gauge! They don't stand much of a chance against that. Later in the season, after the leaves fall off, I turn to my trusty Marlin Model 60 .22 My 8 year old was using his 22 today. And he killed the only squirrel we saw. Had an AWESOME day though. Walked out into the edge of a hay field, looked up, and 12 gobblers were milling around about 30 yards from us. Oh for it to have been turkey season! First gobblers Brandon had ever seen in the wild, so like I said, AWESOME day! We watched them for about 10 minutes until they saw us and ran off into the woods. Nothing beats a morning in the woods with a kid!

We don't have seasons on squirrel or rabbit- but it's too hot to hunt right now.
