So did everybody get their "free" copy of the American Rifleman Video (first in the serise)?

From reading the accompanying letter, the "Collection" was made just for American Rifleman ... when I watched the tape, it was "Tales of the Gun" (the Guns of Valor episode) from the History channel.

I think they are $10 an episode, which is about 1/2 the price of what the History Channel charges, plus you get a "FREE" bronze collector coin

I'm thinking about signing up, there are several episodes I really liked and I never think to record them ... but on the other hand I dont know if I will I ever watch them ...

So ya gonna sign up?

Much as I support the NRA, if I want tapes of these programs, I'll do it myself rather than clutter up the house with a bunch of 60 minute tapes at ten bucks a segment. Why not use the record feature of the VCR? I have a library of hundreds of movies I've put together that way. I already pay for the cable or dish, $0.30 of tape is nothing.

I have not seen the offer yet, but I already have 3 tapes of extended play recording.....that's what...7 episodes a tape? Including Valor, but I would love to pick up the ones I don't have recorded...I saw the one dedicated to the Tommy gun, but did not get it on tape, luckily the gun appears in other episodes as well.
And, yes, I will sit and watch many episodes at a time when I need a gun fix.

I got mine in the mail on Saturday. I just don't like getting stuff that I didn't order (that I will get charged for if I don't return it). That isn't free, and I think it is tricky.

I will be returning mine, I watch the History Channel all the time, I'm pretty sure I've seen em all.

By the way, what the heck are we supposed to do with that coin????? I was thinking about punching a .223 hole through mine...

First I've heard of it, too. Are you saying that the NRA is sending these tapes out and if you don't want them, you have to return them?
I've got most of the "Tales of the Gun" already taped. I guess when I get the package, I will just have the PO send it back unopened. That way it doesn't cost me. Afterall, I didn't order it. I support the NRA through signing up new members to the tune of about $500 per year. I will pass on this.

ditto that G36 - I don't like getting stuff that I didn't order either ... and I don't really understand the accompanying letter ... Good old Wayne it says its yours to keep ... free, but then you look at the rest of the materials and it only gives you 2 options, 1)keep it and sign up or 2) return it and dont send any more.

I think here in Kansas we have a law that basically says, if you get something you didn't order you can keep it for free, you don't have to return or pay for it ... the sender took a chance by sending it and your under no obligation to go out of you way ...

I'm probably going to send it back and let them pay the return postage and keep the coin ... its kinda cool, but I sure don't need a collection of bronze coins, as for the tapes, I would probably watch them once then they would just clutter up the place ... in a year or two the wife would put them in a garage sale for 25 cents each ... I like Tales of the Gun, but by the time I'm ready to watch them a second time VCR's will probably be where beta-max is now >>>

That's not just Kansas, that is the position of the Post Office.
Anything sent to you that you didn't order is a gift.
Note: If you intend to return it just write "refused" on the box. DO NOT open the box or you will have to pay return postage.

It came with a postage paid return label ... supposedly if you sign up all the tapes you want will come that way, watch it and if you don't want it return it ... no charge ...

Reminds me of the time I received 12 "rapp music" cd's from that columbia records place. After sending me a bill for them- I wrote them and let them know I hate rapp and didn't order any such thing, and if they would mail me $35.00 for postage and handling- I would send them back. Their reply-"keep them". I used them for target practice!
I enjoy being a member of the NRA, but get a little tired of being pushed for more money, no matter how much I just sent them!
