    Timberbeast -

I lurked here a bit before registering, and I remember those names and the good times that were had. Festus and Homer J. were probably the main reasons I registered.

Not to say that there aren't some good times now, too, but this sure is a different place than the GB that I first knew.

Ah well, nothin' stays the same as long as the world keeps on turnin', huh?

Even Clouder has not been around for a little while. What about Bobinstlouis, Kdub? Most of the names that post the most have been around no more than 2 years. Supermonkey must wear them out fast!

Were is 6.5 Swede?. I liked his post. He did catch a lot of flack about his 6.5., But he was sharp about rifles.

If you talk to them again, Miss. Creant, tell them to stop by....
It would be nice to hear from them.

Timber, I remember many of the early days mainly as a lurker...Homer, Festus and Pelican kept me laughing so hard, I could hardly type.

I miss Festus...another good ol cowboy Wyomingite. Bless Johnn Yuma. He had a knack for hitting the point without the accompanying BS. Some of us could learn from that. Swede

Just commenting on how much the place has changed, I guess re-living the past a bit. I shorely do miss ole' Festus, dontcha know? PTOOIE!!! (ding). Still a nice place to come to, though, don't get me wrong!

    T-Beast:

And Baja and mlincoln. Mlincoln, or MsLincoln as I teased, was the only one to really have my number. And I really miss metz, he could always be counted on to be totally un-PC.

Been tempted a time or two to go find Richard (Festus). Wouldn't be hard but I have e.mailed him twice with no response so I have to respect his wishes not to commnicate. Very talented writer, that one.

I miss Nora B. LaRock. She was an old lady who used to write letters to the local paper. She revisited the days when she came to Texas with her parents in a covered wagon, and the various hardships and adventures they faced in everyday life.

She died several years ago, and I miss her letters.

You know, there was another man once who obsessed non-stop over whether people were phony. He eventually ended up shooting the President, if I recall correctly.

I think you are thinking of Mark David Chapman-man who shot John Lennon. He had a real "catcher in the rye" fixation.

Well, I miss Homer J. and TYRVR, both have unique senses of humor. I also remember when Shootist took a long vacation from the forum and we were without his wonderful USMC wit. I really miss Ron Wee more than words can describe...he and I shared a love for judo as well as guns. He never said much about it here but his brother was one of the finest judokas in the United States and in fact a member of the Olympic squad at one time...and Ron wasn't far behind his brother. When Ron died I took a break from the forum myself.
I think more than anything else I miss the refinement and gentility that this board once had. Brash, bold trash talkers would appear(including a guy named Beachmaster73!!) and the forum members would rapidly bring them to heel in short order. And Timberbeast I've always wanted to get up North in the UP(you can't possibly live anywhere else!) and meet you; I've pictured you as a cross between Paul Bunyon and Daniel Boone!!!
Of course TLynn still has "wanted dead or alive: posters out on me all along the Idaho border....so I can't ever go to Idaho!

It is a different board now, not necessarily worse, just a somewhat different flavor than it once had....God can some of you oldtimers imagine a debate on the existance of God between Homer J. and Saxon Pig??? I'd sell tickets for that one!! I think the board has a much younger flavor than it once did and now reflects a somewhat different(and younger!) generation than it used to.....
We now have robsguns, salzo, iconoclast, varminthunter, lowrider, saxon pig, bullzeye, concealedG36, will270win and a host of others to bring a new flavor to our forum. In any case it's still a great place to hang out....Beach

Tlynn still shines around once in awhile. God, Beach, you had to hit me with Mr. Wee! What a fine gentleman, in the sincerest way I could express! We talked privately a few times about tool-path programming (CNC stuff), and he was so very helpful, can't say enough good about him!
Baja, well, hell, he was a good sort altogether, but he sure did have a way with words when he disagreed!!
Can't forget Humpy, either. Someone somewhere must be able to say "HI" to him for me and the Mrs.! Did someone say Tlynn was my better half? Well, she's better than me, but since her and MsBeast are fast friends, I guess that's a guess.....
Clouder...I've emailed Festus, too without a response, but the addy was good, nothing came back. As you, I'll leave it there. Remember when we all jumped on the bandwagon when he was thinkin' of building a "camp for kids" type of thing?? We meant it, too. I still do. If he does it, he's got a stack of Cedar waiting, if'n he kin * it all out'n his way...ptooie! (what the hell is that?).
Hey, Beach, I invited you, and I don't take back my words, so you are welcome at any time. I'm afraid that I really don't look like you think I do, though. Hell, way back when, humpenfender set up a special site where we could all post pictures. I know what he looks like, I know what "Clouder looks like, I know what IfishBaja looks like, I know what Sigman looks like (where's he???), I know what the late Mr. Walls looks like (JohnnYuma), Festus, damn, quite a few others from that site and by meeting them. I've met Tlynn (purtiest gal around, 'cept fer my wife), I've met Matthew Opaliski, Cowboy62, Metz, Ruffit, Whizbang and the illustrious Tye. All are still in touch from the latter list....what a crew!!! Y'all don't wanna mess around with Tye, either. Maybe the most gentle and kind guy around, but he's so fast, and so watchful, and so strong...it's unbelievable.
ladr........great to see you typing, man, you were around all that time, too. A fine gent, you are.
Mlincoln?? Boy, did he make a bad first impression, or was it just us all jumping all over him?? He held his own, though and became a valued guy.
Then again............there was also RussH.... (ducking)........
    LOOK OUT!!!
PELICAN!!! Where are you????? (sarcastic humor a specialty).........

I still have a soft spot for GONEPOSTAL. Are we getting a point where we are referring to those days as "the old days"? I'm so glad I stumbled across GB.

I can't mention it here but you can email me if you don't know where some of these guys went and where they are posting.

Homer, Fetus, metz, dano and even the monkey are some of the folks that made this the group, that I read about in Guns and Ammo the back in 2000, the best site of it's kind on the net. Things have certainly changed... Oh yeah that timberbeast person was here also putting in some excellent comments and suggestions. I miss the good old days.

Other than Ron "Get your gun Mag-na-ported" Wee, has any one else died? I do miss Ron. I have not heard much from Tye lately. Like it was said earlier most still hangout on TFE and TFF. Homer is still a pistol, still guarding us from alien attack with his .338 on his roof.

    Hi there, Beast

It's been a long, long time since I posted anything, anywhere. Just came back to this site tonight to have a look around; and was flooded with very fond memories of days ago and the sometimes lively discussions that we had here. Maybe I'll have to jump back into the swing of things.

    Hey -!

Heard someone was using my name in vain!

No, not really - just inquiring where I've been, along with a bunch of the other old timers.

Been awfully busy on some of the other boards and just sorta fell by the wayside, here. Looks like there's a pretty good replacement crew to take up the slack, anyway.
