It first begins with the maturity level of the carrier......Why do they want to carry a gun............And if or when a gun must be pulled will they be able to shoot.................

You do not carry a gun for prestiege................

prestige: [noun] respected standing or reputation

You do not carry to make you feel like a bad * or carry to impress others..........That in it self will get you killed............

Ask her what if that person is already one step ahead of you and has a gun. Carrying at least give you the opportunity to protect yourself w/ a level playing field.

Coonass, what if the old shotgun hanging in the window of the pickup is for social status among us rednecks, is that prestige?

Her fears are well true. Police officers are offered training on how to keep your weapon. Someone who is 10 feet from you can rush you long before you can clear the holster. Some know exactly what to do to get it from you even if it is in your hand. My son has blackbelt kenpo and has taken mine away several times even when I was prepared for him. My wrist was twisted and useless for several minutes and he had turned the gun to my stomache as he took it away, so if it went off,I would have shot myself. Pretty scarey and you should take this seriously. He also had me on the ground with the gun in my face. I am 208 lbs, he is 170 lbs and only 16 yrs old.
I don't know what else to say, but, practice your presentation many many times and keep your distance from an attacker or actor of suspicion. If you pull it- you better mean to shoot it! 3 shot method.
