Last Monday my son who is 25, had an accident at work. He works at a plant that crushes rock for asphalt, etc. While doing maintenance on some equipment, a 150 pound metal guard fell and crushed his right hand. He has multiple broken bones and may lose his pinky and ring finger. Anyway, he reported to the main office and they sent a driver with him to the hospital. A couple of miles into the 20 mile trip, the driver got sick looking at my sons hand, so my son had to drive. They kept him in the hospital, after the operation, only overnight. What I'm getting at is, I went down to his house last night and found him taping an old camo mask to his cast because "If I can't work, I'm going hunting in the morning". I remember going hunting when I broke my elbow in a motorcycle accident, but at least I waited a week.
My final comment is.....do I raise them right, or what?

Update on my son.....Good news for once. The doctor says he won't lose his ring finger and possibly only half of his pinky finger. However, he's looking at many months of therapy to be able to use the hand effectively. His main concern is being able to hold a rifle or shotgun and squeezing......Of course he is out hunting again this morning. I'm happy and just had to share this with you guys. Thanks for listening.

Richie Rich.....I've always told my kids to look around when something happens that they think is too difficult to live with. They will always find someone in a hell of a lot worse situation. Losing a finger is the least that could have happened and he is lucky. Thanks for the story.
BTW....he got a turkey with a 10 inch beard this morning.
