The "experts" have not answered my question. Does anyone know when Savage stopped making the Model 24 "P" series or know of a site where I could research it?

I have a savage Model 24 22 mag over 410. I cant seem to find a selector switch any where, I have tried numrich and brownells as well as our local gunsmiths. This model is designated 24, no letter after it and I dont believe it is all to old. The old switch I believe was w round button type by what I have seen at gun shows and is on the right side of the action. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Quick question, do you guys know what the difference is between the Savage 24v and 24s? I found two listings for the 24s and I think I'm going to try and get one of them. I can't find any 24v's (which Beachmaster recommended).Thanks,G36

I don`t know the difference, even though I have more Savages than most people have guns..but I prefer them to have the snap(release) on top..and the wood to be walnut,as my 24-V is...my 24-S-E has a side release, and is in stained hardwood, which kinda turns me off.Lets see what Miestro De La Playa says about it. .218[This message has been edited by 218Beekeep (edited 01-25-2002).]

G36.....I believe the diffence in the 13 different models of this Combination Gun is simply in the calibers and gauges it offers. Also different features provided. For instance the Model 24 was only offered in .22 LR over .410 and made from 1950-1968. The Model 24V you mentioned was made in a variety of calibers over 20 Gauge with 3 inch chamber. The 24S was the first model in 20 gauge, I believe, and had a side lever to break open the action. Also it was equipped with a dovetail for a scope. It was made from 1964 to 1971. Someone else will probably come in with more or better info.muley
