Hampton, Virginia-AP -- A double amputee whose motorized wheelchair was repossessed has got a new one -- thanks to a Virginia medical supply company.Seventy-nine-year-old Charles Edward Carter of Hampton, Virginia had been using the "Hoveround" motorized wheelchair for two years, since his arthritis made it too difficult to manually operate a wheelchair.Hoveround officials assumed Medicare would pay for the five-thousand-dollar wheelchair because it had done so in other cases. But Medicare declined to pay for Carter's wheelchair and it was repossessed on Christmas Eve.The story was picked up on the local news and today, Tidewater Medical Supplies of Chesapeake donated a refurbished wheelchair to the World World Two veteran.A local radio station also raised several thousand dollars for Carter, which will allow his family to rebuild a deteriorating wheelchair ramp
