Middle Eastern Oil

Thought it my be interesting for all to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from. Major oil companies that import Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9-1-00 thru 8-31-01).

Shell 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco 144,332,000
Exxon/Mobil 130,082,000
Marathon 117,740,000
Amoco 62,231,000

If you do the math at $30.00/barrel these imports amount to over
$18 BILLION!

Here are some large oil companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil.

Citgo 0 Barrels
Sunoco 0
Conoco 0
Sinclair 0
BP/Phillips 0

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and can be easily documented. Refineries located in the U.S. are required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing. They report on a monthly basis.

Keep this list in your car. Please share with friends.

on the otherhand, why use up our oil[natural resources] when we can send paper and ink to them and use up theirs? when they run out we will still have ours and rule the world???? i am not really advocating just putting my 2cents worth in. i mean we have an unlimited supply of paper and ink to print money but our energy resources are finit. i realy dont think we can produce enough oil to avoid buying from foriegn sources. i understand what you are saying and agree in principle but?? is it dooable??

Check the name on the sign, then compare the price. It's your decision.

I got a dumb question. If the companies mentioned don't import, then why does the price go up like the others when the price per barrel goes up? Those companies should be able to keep the price in check since they don't need imported oil but their prices stay right up with the others.

7mm I think it all has to do with the Wall Street market. There is a lot of panic going on there. The price of oil and other stuff is decided by the futures market. Do you know how much futures traders know about their job? About as much as I know about differential equations. Zilch.

Just sitting here and reflecting on it. Of Course I'm getting old and can't remember squat. But, Airborne's post states Middle Eastern oil. We import a great deal of oil from Veneszuela(?), Mexico, and others. That's why the prices go up when one raises the price, they all do. Of course, the auto manufactureers don't help. There are better engines, better carborators, alternative fuel sourses, etc. that would eliminate the dependence on foreign, and for that matter, all oil. Everyone is out for the "almighty dollar." My two cents. Ed

Airbourne...Last time I saw this topic posted, I set a reply to indicate a bunch of research done on the net...pertaining to BP/Philips....BP stands for British Petroleum....and they recently merged with Amoco...who buys most of their crude from Irac...Check it out.....BP and Phillips are not related, though Philips does get their oil primarily from non-eastern supplies....they do have franchise rights for sale of some name brand Mobil Products, which have origins in eastern countries....Better look real close to see where the sorces realy are....
