Does anyone know of a good inexpensive ammo to run through the AR-15's. I just bought some Russian 62gr. Boxer Primed Wolf Ammo from the Ammoman (1000 rounds for $125.00) but I don't know how it will function/haven't tried it yet. I will just be doing some plinking with it! Reasonable Accuracy but something that functions well needed and non-corrosive!

Wolf's OK. Dirty, but OK. $125 is a bit much though. Shop around.

I would stay away from Wolf for the AR-15. Remember, Wolf is a Russian company and their most popular round (7.62 X 39) was developed to work best with AK-47's. AK's are made to lower tolerances than the AR-15 and the lacquer from the Wolf ammo doesn't hurt the AK when it begins to build up in the rifle. An AR-15 is made to tighter tolerances and this build-up of lacquer can cause feeding problems. Just my two cents.I keep a case of Wolf 5.56mm ammo because it's cheap and it remains unopened. Should another major World War break out and civilian ammo manufacturers begin manufacturing for the military instead of the civilian populace, you either reload or you use what you have. I have reloading supplies and I have the case of Wolf. The case of Wolf is a last-ditch supply in case things get bad.

Wolf will no longer be putting the laquer on their .223 in order to prevent feeding troubles and laquer build-up.

Guys. Along the same line ... I just bought a new Carbon-15. The owners manual cautions to use only premium rounds. Cost aside, what are considered the better (reliable) rounds in 223?Thanks,Jeff

PMP ammo (South Africa) shoots great. Cheap too. STAY AWAY FROM WOLF ( Steel cased.)

I understand that since 9/11 there has been a run on good .223 ammo, which is why the cheaper stuff is going for more money at the moment. I checked one online site and sure enough they were out of most of their .223 brands. Apparently 7.62x39 is somewhat less popular and easier to get.
