I'm currently shopping around for an Insurance Company for some vehicles....curious, what do you look for when shopping around?....Why do you own what you do? Price...coverage...service...agent... previous experiences?Any Companies you would recommend?

I have GEICO. Least expensive I could find. Good coverage. No local agents, 800 number, but local claims. Have had one claim with them and they handled it quickly and very well.

We have American Family for home and auto and have never had any problems. They paid out our claims fast and were helpful with any questions we have had.

I had GEICO for several years, also am a member in good standing in the Army National Guard, but I must say, AIG Auto Insurance Group, 505 CARR RD, P.O. Box 15510, Wilmington, DE 19850, know as AIG Insurance, and can be found on the web under that name, cut my insurance by almost half from GEICO! I thought I was getting a good deal with them, but man was I ever surprised! They would be worth a look to say the least. Have a 2001 Windstar, for bike insurance I am still with GEICO, AIG doesn't offer motorcycle insurance, GEICO was the champ there, 2000 Harley....loaded. Hope this helps.

Dittos on the USAA. I have had several wrecks (not my fault I swear) and they are quick to pay the claim. Quick to raise your rate if you get a ticket though! Will the speed demon. (had to mudge)

After my current term with USAA runs out I'm switching. I have no respect for a company that caters SOLELY to officers until Klinton draws down the Army. Then, and only then, do they open their customer base to us enlisted folks. They only gave a rat's you-know-what about us when it was no longer profitable to cater solely to the officers' corps.

Too bad in Michigan your insurance premiums go up even if you DON'T get a ticket. Any claims at all usually raise your rates, because we are a "no fault" state. It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I once had somebody beat the crap out of my car when it was parked in downtown Detroit (for kicks, I presume) and after I made a claim for repairs they raised my rate.I think we use AAA now, they at least provide road service for no extra charge.

I have been with Allstate for thirty-five years. They have just notified me they willnot renew my insurance because my son has had three tickets. I have had to look around & have found that so far Mercury offers the best rate. Even with my son's record it is going to be cheaper than what I had been paying. Wish I had changed long ago.

not to many years ago my moms insurance was cancelled by allstate.the reason being only that she had reached an age group that was having a lot of accidents. evidently their profits were down a little in that age group or (heaven forbid)they actually LOST money on them. i guess i dont understand this thing about GAURANTEED profits. barto

Our cars and home are with Westfield. Our bikes are with Dairyland. Dairyland has a free rider that covers up to $3,000 worth of custom equipment. (Doesn't cover custom paint tho'.) I tried Progressive and their rates were higher for my bike alone than we pay Dairyland for both bikes.6MMX284....what model HOG?Mudge the curious

I use NATIONWIDE, $90.20/month for full coverage on a 2001 suburban and liability on an 85 suburban, both of which are 4x4.

Rembrandt,Liability coverage is pretty generic between companies in SC (as I think it is in most States) so I shop price.I've found Progressive to be about the best; have two vehicles with them. Still have my truck with State Farm, but need to change that--thanks for reminding me!

Mudge that would be a Harley Dyna Super Glide Sport (FXDX) I got one great deal from a guy heading into a divorce, could not resist! Then I added a few accessories and have been adding a little at a time. The bike was show room new, hardly used and I was glad he came down to my offer, or else I would have spent some major bucks. Do you ride? I really like the bike and all Harleys for that matter, have had others, but this was my first Harley, really pleased. Thanks for asking, always listening....swishman

I have been with Illinois Farmers Insurance Group for quite a while and they've been reasonable and no unpleasant surprises thus far. In fact, I owned a Supra Twin Turbo for a while (320hp, 0-60 in 4 secs.) and paid no more than a sedan rate. Of course, I'm over 50, which I assume has something to do with that. I had a bad experience with Geico once. I tried to sign up with them over the phone, and the girl was asking me questions. When she got to, "Do you have a radar detector in your car?" I told her yes (I tell the truth automatically or I won't answer at all), but that it was really none of her business. She said she would be unable to complete my app over the phone. heheheheh. No Geico for me. So folks, be prepared for the question.
