GLOCKs & reloads????

What's this I hear about Glocks not shooting reloads? Does that only apply to +P variety's? Or is that only if the dimensions are altered out of factory specs?

Would one be able to shoot a hard cast out of a Glock without damaging the bore?

The rifling (or rifflin' as 13Fister would say) in factory Glock barrels are not conducive to firing unjacketed lead bullets. Glock factory barrels also do not have fully supported chambers. I'll be buying an aftermarket barrel for my Glock 23 with normal rifling and a fully supported chamber one of these days. It will probably be a .357 SIG barrel.

Deep sigh. Glocks shoot reloads fine, except when they're poorly made and get stuck halfway into the chamber. If you can make reloads to spec, you should be fine.

What Glock barrels don't prefer is plain lead bullets from the cowboy days, and a lot of guys who reload buy the cheap unjacketed bullets. I am no longer surprised to hear this, even though we all know lead is toxic.

Because of the way Glock engineers its bores, they are prone to foul more, i.e., pick up more lead than a regular rifled barrel. Hence, the simple solution is to buy plain-wrap jacketed ammo for practice.

Since I don't reload, they sweep away my cases when I'm done and that's that. I expect the "not fully supported chamber" business started when some reloader noticed his cases had a slight mark or dimple after firing that may have interfered with reloading those cases. Just a guess. Glocks were made to shoot factory, jacketed ammo the best. Simple as that. Stick with that, and you're liable to get hundreds of thousands of uneventful discharges on the target. That INCLUDES +p loads like CorBon in all Glock's calibers. In fact Massad Ayoob and Peter Pi, as far as I know, are big Glock fans.

Jeez, idsman, I hate to hear that. There's a lot of junk going around right now. I've been on line more lately and my virus software has found a few things and "quarantined" them for me. Supposedly, the best SW on the planet is Norton AntiVirus. No doubt you are motivated to acquire something right now and that's what the experts are recommending at the moment (it auto-updates in the background while you're online).

Norton was disabled by this virus. Norton had just been updated prior to the infection. Norton didn't stop it. I use McAffee Virus Scan and Firewall now.

    idsman --
That's funny -- a computer tech at a local "expert" store just told me McAfee was, shall we say, not as good as Norton. That people write viruses specifically to thwart McAfee. Now, I don't pretend to understand why they can't just as easily write viruses to thwart Norton. Maybe he was "full of it." Good luck.
