If youre going to use a blued gloss/matte scope, I would go with rings and mounts that match the scope...I have a matte finished leupold mounted with matching hardware on a stainless Weatherby, it looks fine!

Its not going to match but its performance that coumts, who knows you might start a whole new fad. I like the weaver rings and bases but there other fine quality products out there.Your Nikon scope should serve you well I have one and I like it.The .280 is a fine cartridge and they are very accurate.

    Good Luck.

For what it is worth, I am with Pigeon Creek, I would match the bases and rings to the scope. That way it will look like a unit, not a group of mismatched peices. These days all I buy are Dave Talley's rings and bases. Absolutely bomb proof. Talley Mfg., Inc. 624 Arapahoe Trail, P.O. Box 821, Glenrock, Wyoming 82637

It can look neatly different. Have done it for customers.
Depends on the color/tone match including the stock.

Depends what you like. If you've got a stainless 700 with a sythetic stock, you've already got a "duotone" gun. I'd say at this point beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
