For the most part we all seem to be in agreement about most major issues on this forum. We should for our own political party and run for office.So... who wants to be president?

Funny. I have thought of running for office, having managed and/or led various enterprises from large company newspapers to boards of directors of social service organizations. I do not believe one must be an attorney to be a public official. I believe common sense, which is really uncommon sense, and a simple ability to speak directly without insult, are the essential requirements. That, and a passion for two things -- the simple truth, and the willingness to do the right thing.

But there is one more principle, and AA says it most simply: "Our leaders are but trusted servants -- they do not govern." Too many mayors, governors, and federal legislators become loose cannons, declining to represent their constituency and doing what they personally "know" to be "right." We have a representative form of government, and that means that the elected leader uses his common sense and skill to best carry out the will -- of the people he (or she) leads.

Offerer you are right on. I ran for for county council at large. I never put a sign out, knocked on any doors, or kissed any babies. I spent $5.00 on a name badge and got beat by three votes. First time to run for anything. I used the free publicity offered by the local media in radio and print, went to some public appearances and that was it. A proven crook who had been in several county and city offices ran for county surveyor. He got beat by 15 votes and cried for a recount. He was crushed by his defeat. The local paper called and asked if I was going in with some of the soar losers to pay for a recount. My reply: "I got beat by three votes, I'm done." Of course they didn't print that. Wonder why? Offerer let's start the Radical Party. I'm with you.

Icon -- Very funny. Why not start at the top, eh?

As for the Radical Party, it doesn't fit. We are not self-described radicals; far from it. That is the "characterization" placed on us by those who would like to discredit us. We might be the Homeland party, the Constitutional party, or the Citizens party, but not a radical party. Leave that to extremists.

I like the sound of "Citizens Party". I'm not very good at verbal repertoire, but I could figure out a way to join in and help. I could be a public educator, that's what my degree plan is.

If you win public office, you can count on being beaten up good, not to mention examined under a microscope!
