TRAFICANT and Clinton-whats the difference

Right now the house is getting ready to expel house member James Traficant. Personally, I think the guy is probably guilty, and his defense in the house and in trial has been absurd. He has hardly convinced me he has been railroaded.
It seems that they are going to convict him with close to unanimous consent-but I cant help but wonder why all of these pious congressmen, who are speaking so eloquently about the rule of law, the rules of the house, blah blah blah, barely voted for impeaching a president who lied under oath in a court of law.
Why are they treatring Traficant differently?

Did you ever find yourself in a situation where you knew you had nothing left to lose by "acting up?" That to me is what we're seeing from Traficant. Little kids do that. I guess he's just decided to have a good time and the heck with it. To him it probably seems to show character -- being spontaneous, honest, blunt, blowing things off with a joke. But it's not much of a congressman's legacy. He's a cartoon.

By the way, Traficant's whole point seems to be that he doesn't feel guilty of anything because everything he's done has been "business as usual." That's his whole defense. Not that he's innocent according to the letter of the law, but "everybody does it, so it's hypocritical to pick on me." He can't even work up a little shame and passion for reform.

The size of their testes. Mr. T speaks the truth, as easily as komrade klinton lied. For this he is feared, and can never be be respected by the hypocrites that surround him.

What a laugh! "Cast ye not the first stone." Of those 420 votes against him, I guarantee you that there are others who would make him look like a choir boy.

Clean out our government.......but get ALL the guilty parties. Then we can be "government free."

Amen retired cop, they are all guilty of deliberately misguiding the American people and each one should be thoruoghly investigated. From Washington clear down to the local level, the entire system has been left alone so long that it has deteriorated and degraded to the point that only drastic reform will save us from destroying what our ancestors put in place to protect us all from a tyrranical government.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

We're all saying the same thing. The only problem is, once you've thrown little tantrums like Traficant did, it's real tough to be taken seriously any more by the majority of the people as a legislator. He knew he was burying himself with his tongue and it was more important to him to put on the show. So let it be written, so let it be done.

By the way, the founding fathers mistrusted lawyers terribly, and meant legislative service to be for the common man. Nowadays you are accused of being unqualified for office unless you have a law degree. People sometimes use their celebrity to get elected, but even Reagan was laughed at for a very long time; Tommy Thompson is doing better. But what about Jesse Ventura? And now Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to run for something. Of course he doesn't qualify to be President. And neither does Al Sharpeton, for a whole different set of reasons. Why is it that jerks try to reform and think we'll forget about all the crap they did a few years back and vote them in? What a waste of time for Sharpeton to run, unless of course it's a Republican plot to split the Democrats' Black vote and help guarantee W's second term.... Heheheheh!
