I don't know what model it was but i looked at an HK 45 last week and wasn't impressed at all. As a matter of fact, i thought it was junk but don't want to offend any HK guys/gals. My buddy has an HK .40 that is different, i don't know what either model is but i think his is A LOT better. The one at the shop was too bulky atop and too light for my taste. What a puke of a gun! I guess i should fire one before judging it but i don't even care to do that. Plus, it was about $200.00 bucks more than the CZ i was interested in and not as nice as the SIG they had for $729.00. It appeared to be used as it was very loose and the slide didn't give any resistance. I could have chambered one by rubbing it down my leg. any comments on these pistols?? are people just paying for the name??

The only bad thing about choosing a Kimber ...
... there are so darn many models to choose from!

? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.
Your radar is working fine if you like the CZ. Why pay more? I like the H&Ks, and they are heavy built guns, supposedly. I'm thinking of trying to acquire one, but the prices, you're right, are still too high. My dealer tells me he doesn't have a single one in the shop any more because they just stopped selling. Realistically, dealers should be unloading these near wholesale. Some are still pretending they're "hot." Whether a gun is popular and whether it is quality are two different things. The CZ is not as popular as it should be for its quality. Probably, the USP isn't either, any more. Both are good guns. The CZ is a better "value" at its price and very nice to look at. The care in design is obvious.
There are lemons of all brands. I once picked up a Sig 220 (the one that also had Browning's name on it) and I couldn't even pull the double action trigger. I literally could not get the trigger back far enough to dry fire the piece. Needless to say the Sig 220 design, which is attractive, did not make any points with me that day. Sounds like your H&K needed some work on its guide rod/spring assembly.

By the way, I can't pass up this opportunity to ask those who are dealers, what should I expect to pay for a full size USP in .45 caliber with the stainless slide?
