PHONE SOLICITOR-what fun I had

Just got off the phone with a fellow trying to give me a great deal on a newspaper subscription. He went through his usual speel about what a great paper it is, and how great this seven week subscriptioin would be.
I gave him the line I always give when his paper calls;
"your paper is to liberal bias for me"
Usually the seller just thanks me, cause they dont know what to make of that comment.
But this guy got really defensive. He told me that the editorial might be bias, but the news is the news. That cant be bias, cause the reporter is only reporting the news. I told him that it most certainly can have a left slant, 'cause the person reporting can be reporting it from his left perspective.
He told me all papers report the news the same way. I corrected him, telling him that The WASHINGTONB times, does not report the news the same way as the New York times, or the Philadlephia Inquirer.
He then went on to tell me I could go to the editorial "soundboard" to voice my concerns.
I informed him that I have written letters to his editor, and they omiited just enough of my letter to make me look like Tim McVeigh.
He made one last stab, I declined and thanked him, and he laughed and hung up.
They must have put me on a "hard *" list, cause like I said earlier, they usually just stutter when I give my line.

"The powers delegated by the proposed constitution to the federal governmentare few and defined, and will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace negotiation, and foreign commerce"

Pretty good!! I usually chose one of two methods. I hang up on them right away or I just put the phone down and let it sit for 10 minutes. Nothing like letting them waste their breathe and their time talking to no one!

I have this remote controlled "fart machine" that make the most disgusting noises. When they call, I say hold on a minute and turn the machine on. After a couple of minutes, I go back and there's no one there. Guess they didn't like me farting in their ear!

I had the similar thing happen to me by a telemarketer....a day later the editor and chief big shot himself of the States largest paper called about 9:00pm to talk to me about my responses. We chatted for nearly an hour about his paper, told him I didn't appreciate the front page being an editorial sound board. Got into bias sports coverage and how they always endorse political candidates. Informed him I will make up my own mind on politics and he should just report the facts and issues...keep his own opinions to himself and remain neutral on political races.....I was impressed that he took the time to call and find out what people thought of his paper. Told him that if I were to spend money on a paper, it would be one that was more in line with my views and beliefs.....went out an subscribed to the "Limbaugh Letter".

While I suspect a 'friend' put me on the mailing list, I had enormous fun when the Brady Bunch called looking for contributions. After I'd toyed with the dimwit on the other end for a while, I informed him that I was a NRA Benefactor member and that I would be glad to contribute the amount he was asking for - to the NRA-ILA . . . "click."

If you have caller ID, just don't answere the "unknown number" displays and your problems are answered. If it's a good call, just listen to the answering machine to find out. *If they do get thru- I tell the person on the line, I would like their number, as I have a buisness and when I have a sale, I would like to call them and let them know-- why don't they ever give me their number?

Another thing I enjoy doing if, the telemarketer is a female is; tell her you know she is just trying to make liveing and if she has my phone number she should have my address and there is a 20$ bill waiting for her arrival. For some reason they always hang up and don`t call back. Just can`t understand it!!!!

When I was recovering from the accident the phone rang off the hook with everything from surveys to subcriptions to scam artists. I would answer the phone and begin reading the book in my hand aloud until they hung up. The joke was on me a few times when I was called by a computer.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

I haven't read a TIME Magazine since the editors announced that gun control was too important for unbiased reporting.

I spent a lot of time last week e-mailing congresspeople (and the P and VP) reminding them that the NRA is a grassroots organization of over 4 million Americans, and not an elite special interest like Big Oil or Big Tobacco needing "campaign reform." We're just a few million voters trying to participate effectively in our political process, and paying our dues too.

As for telemarketers, thank god Indiana now has a "do-not call list" with the Attorney General's office, and my numbers are on it. The calls have subsided!
