Heston announces Alzheimer's-steps down from NRA

Charlton just announced he has an early stage of Alzheimer's Disease in a taped statement on CNN. He is apparently going to step down from his Presidency with the NRA, but will continue to do various kinds of work, perhaps as an actor as well. His spokesman says he will be 79 in October, has no detectable symptoms noticeable by his friends at this point. As my mother just said to me, "There ain't no justice."

That's bad news for all free Americans. However, the Brady bunch, Feinstein, Boxer and Charlie "Sugarlips" Schumer are probably jumping for joy.

Sorry, sodbuster. I should have hit 'refresh' before posting.

Chuck will have more brain cells than those anti-gunners put together, for a long time yet. And a better understanding of Americans.

He was sceduled to retire at the next national anyway. Does anyone know if Kayne Robinson has stepped in? Kayne is a member of our gun club and a part time neighbor. I have complete confidence in his abilitiy.

I hope he sticks with it. Good man. By the way do any of you older guys (50+) ever talk with someone, get a brief interuption and forget about what your line of thought was? How bout looking for your glasses while you're wearing them? Should I be concerned due to the fact I do these very things? Help, encouragement, kick me while I'm down let me know.

96 you have some loss of mental accuity as you grow older. "Senior Moments" are not necessarily Alzheimer's, you could be just an OF. If you have serious concerns, see your doctor. It would be worth it to releive any doubt or put you in a position to prepare for it while you can. I'll Bet your are just an OF.

Kayne Robinson, Senior V.P. was already slated to take over. Kayne was chief of police in Des Moines Iowa and retired to work full time for the NRA.

Here are the facts, Heston will finsih out his term which ends next April, at that time there will be the annual election.

I've worked with Mr Heston on a couple of events over the years and have seen his health change....guess we're all getting older. The last time I saw him was about two months ago and he was looking a little tired. He's lived a remarkable life, once told me how he'd grown up hunting and shooting, and some of the moments that shaped his "conservative" views.

One of the most impressive stand he took was when "Ice T" was making big money and controversy with his cop killer songs. Since Chuck owned some shares of Time Warner, (Ice T's record producers) he decided to attend the share holders meeting and asked to speak. Like most gatherings he attends, his presence was an event. On stage sat the board of directors....Heston goes to the microphone and pulls out a piece of paper and began reading the lyrics to Ice T's song about Cop Killers....he read every four letter dirty word, when he finished, he turned and sat down. Time Warners directors were in shock, they were looking down at their shoes squirming in their chairs. The rest of the audience sat in stunned silence....a short time later Ice T's record contract was cancelled.

For those that don't know who Kayne Robinson is, you would be impressed. If the membership approves next April, he will most likely be the next President of the NRA. He's one of the most politically savy guns rights activists I've ever met, none finer...

    Rembrandt --
Thanks for the skinny. I'm glad to hear that Chuck will be finishing out his term -- he certainly seems more than capable of it, by the very fine video presentation he made today. I'm also glad to hear something about the candidate, as I get my ballot and often don't know the people, so I tend to vote, if I decide to vote, for the mainstreamers rather than the divisive troublemakers, whoever they happen to be at the time. Of course, I'll be double-checking your opinion as well.....

Notice how it seems that only the good guys gets the hard knocks. Why for once couldn't it be a dashle, gebhardt, waters, kennedy, schulmer, or jackson. You would think maybe just once.

almaguns--Are you also a resident of the fine state of Iowa? I've only met Mr. Robinson twice but I must say that what I have seen is definitely encouraging.

    Idsman,
Kayne was born and raised in Buffalo City Wi. a little town of about 500 on the Mississippi. He still has a home here and spends as much time here as he can. his whole family are members of our gun club and are all active shooters. Mr. Robinson is a very down to earth practical man, very well spoken and very principled.

I am mildly ticked that the news channels were reporting Heston as "stepping down" from the NRA yesterday. That's a very poor phraseology for finishing out his term, and I would say borders on misinformation. He is not stepping down, he is finishing out his term as President of the NRA. Those are two different things.
