Do I Look Any Different?

Looks different on this end. I just fired up my new/used Dell laptop. Going to replace the old Sony with the busted hinge. This one is BIGGER and brighter by far, also FASTER by far.

Got a good deal on it too. I know lots of you don't like laptops and if I had a PRIVATE office with my own stuff all in it, I would probably get a good desktop, but for now, having a laptop is the only way I can make sure other people around here don't mess with my stuff.

I thought you were going to replace that old laptop with the broken hinge 3 months ago?

You mean you only use one computer? You mean that I am gelding the lilly with 4 desk tops, and one laptop!
You know you'd think things would be safe in a police station, however you notice that all the lockers have locks, and all the desks are locked also, and that is for a reason.
I used to hone my lock picking abilities on the stations captains desk, just to keep informed ( I checked and the statue of limitations has passed on that one).

    Rosie (the pretty one) -

I WAS going to post something like "That certainly doesn't reflect well on you!", but upon further reflection (sorry, couldn't resist), decided that it was just too easy!

Oh, wait, I guess I DID just post that. Oops. Dang.

Even in a private office, nothing is "safe" if someone wants the info bad enough...or is nosy enough...
Had my own office in a hospital, you could count on someone "breaking in" and reading confidential files.. locked door, locked desk, locked computer.. they will get in if they want to...*LOL
Congrats on the deal on the new laptop... I love them for travelling..

I wasn't referring to the police station, but the home!

At the station, I use the city's computer, not mine.

I started using a laptop because every time I went to use the family computer, the settings were all messed up from kids playing games.

Cool. I used a laptop for a long time at home. You can if you want to plug in a serial mouse and even an external keyboard to make life a little easier, by the way. I used to put the laptop on a side TV tray, the keyboard in my lap, and I could even sit in the easy chair and watch a bit of TV while 'puting.
