Why are Sigs so good?

Why are Sigs so good? Ive heard they are very very accurate, more accurate than Beretta 96fs. But the Beretta has a longer barrel. The sig im talking about is the P226 in .40. Why are they so expensive? Any info about Sigs would be a big help.

I own both Beretta and Sig-both are really good. If you know anything about the Swiss, you can figure out why Sigs are so good in a heartbeat. The Swiss mentality revolves around a fastidious 'do it right' attitude. The average Swiss adult just won't tolerate second rate stuff. Sig isn't all that much more than any other good gun; if you need to save some bucks, buy one used. They are worth it.

Whether a Sig is better than a Beretta, I can't say. Both are accurate and dependable and I'd be very hard pressed to pick one over the other.

First of all, SIG is an acronym so it should be all upper case. Second, a SIG is not better than a Beretta, only different. Each has certain characteristics that some find better or worse than the other. I have both a SIG P226 9x19 and a Beretta M92. They seem about equal in shooting qualities to me. I prefer the Beretta because of the safety. Both have had their troubles in heavy service. SIGs have had cracked frames, and Berettas have had broken slides. Both have been improved to eliminate these problems.

A SIG with a short trigger is an easier gun to handle for people with small hands, although the new Beretta Vertec should help in that regard.

Try them both and choose the one that works better for you.

ive shot alot of high end guns,as far as reliability the seals shoot sigs they dont shoot alot of guns like glocks,berrettas,s&w's....i wont say they never shoot these guns but they definitly prefer sig and hk.gotta be a reason, their life depends on it strikes me as a good one.judge colt is right, shoot many guns and pick whichever one shoots best in your hands.berrettas are dirt sensitive, ive talked to several who own them and the only complaint is always the same...if you dont keep them clean they jam pretty bad.sig is my favorite the only gun ive ever shot that i thought was comparable was a kimber classic,i really like my hk usp also but i like my sigs better

I think the ergonomics of the SIGs are the reason some find them better. They just seem to fit into your hand very well. I like the thinner design. I shot some of the best groups of my life, the very first time I shot a SIG. The beretta 92 is a great gun also, I would just prefer the SIG for a "one gun only" situation.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

    They WORK!!!

    All the time.

Our PD bought over 50 of them. I do the maintenance on them and conduct firearms training and qualification. If I want to teach malfunction clearing, I have to load the mag with dummy rounds or empty cases.

    They just don't stop.

I don't know. Why are Toyotas so good? They engineer the heck out of them before they leave the factory, is generally why. And they use excellent materials and workmanship.
