GM Wheel Question?

I have a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird that I inherited from my grandmother. I use it some, but it is earmarked for my son to drive when he gets his license. It isn't much of a car, but it gets better mileage commuting than the Silverado. My niece's car was in the shop the other day, and I let her drive the Sunbird while hers was being fixed. While she had it, she lost a wheel cover. Served to remind me why I dislike wheel covers.I would like to buy a set of alloy wheels for this car. Preferably of GM make. To help in the search, what other GM cars used the exact same wheel as the Sunbird? What should I look for? Thanks

Seems to me that the Pontiac Grand Am used some of the same wheels as the Sunbird. There were a whole bunch of Grand Ams made so finding a set of alloy wheels that would work nicely with your Sunbird would not seem to be a huge problem. Check your area salvage yards first for them. Hope this helps.

Nunn Check with your local junk yard they can tell you all of the wheels that will fit your car, They have a book that tells them what all interchanges from one model car to another. and even locate a set for you if the have a computer on line. All you have to worry about is the backspacing on the wheel the diameter and tire size plus the bolt pattern for interchangeability....Auto

Grand Am, Cavalier, and almost every other small front wheel drive from GM will work.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, take it to a mechanic. will270win@aol.com ~Secret Select Society Of Suave Stylish Smoking Jackets~

any wheel from GM with the same bolt pattern will fit. It doesn't even have to be the same size rim. Camaro wheels can be found at the junkyard as well as firebird wheels . They get wrecked sometimes you know. All GM stuff is almost always interchangeable as long as bolt patterns match up. I have been into the racing and 4x4 game for years. Parts are there for the taking. Go to a BIG junkyard. You can probably find a set with 60 series tires if you look around.

First call a GM parts counter at any dealership and find out what alloy wheels are available for it from GM. What you do with the part numbers is then up to you. Think it over, buy from them, or look for a discount seller on the 'net. My salvage yard here is mostly a do it yourself thing so if you don't mind walking a couple miles and maybe either hitting the jackpot or coming up empty, come to Ft. Wayne. :*D
