Microsoft Patch
If you own a Microsoft Windows program made after 1998, this story affects you. Microsoft says a security flaw in its software could allow hackers to delete digital certificates. That's the data that's used to encrypt other data such as e-mail. Microsoft says the flaw is 'critical' and affects operating systems released since Windows 98. A software patch is available on the Microsoft website. 9-3-02

Still, if you use Windows, a trip to www.windowsupdate.com to find the latest Product Updates is well worth your while, in terms of smoother running and increased security. They also continually update MS Office products. If you haven't been there, you may be surprised at just how "out of date" your install/recovery disks (which came with your computer's versions of MS products) is. Just update the Office products themselves very selectively if you are using copies of copies, because MS Office products with the very latest "upgrades" will not run if they check out as unlicensed to you.
