DO any of yall know what it costs to take a rilfe or two into canada to do some hunting. I am in the process of planning a caribou hunt in northern quebec and i was wanting to know all of the extra canadian bs that i will encounter. I will not be going for three more summers but i am planning everything in advance to make sure that i will not forget anytyhing, especially those hidden costs. So i am sure i will post many more questions regarding evtra costs and all of that other stuff later. Thanks a mil, songdog

Hey Songdog,This topic has been discussed before here. Based on what I heard from a U.S. Customs agent in Detroit you may NOT bring a firearm into Canada. I think there are certain exceptions, but I gather the best bet is to rent a rifle from a guide or outfitter when you get to your hunting area. Also, I definitely would recommend you NOT try to "sneak" it in either. Especially considering our nation's state of affairs.G36

Check with the Canucks, they want them tourist dollars! They only have a phobia about HANDguns, from what I have heard. To the best of my knowledge, you will have to jump thru a few hoops, kiss a few rumps, and then you can bring your favorite hunting rifle in. Just declare it at the border, and you will be a happy camper. But of course, don't take my word as gospel, I ain't a lawyer (thank God...).

Why play the games with Canada? They will regester your gun, take your money and send the info to the ATF. I had a trip planned to hunt bear like I had for years. When they can up with the stupid gun laws I cancelled my trip and will not go there again. There are plenty of places with execellent hunting here in the U.S. Let the idiots in Canada starve, they can thank their elected officials for stomping on their toes. Maybe they will get mad enough to get rid of a few of them and get back to a normal society.
