My wife asked me this morning to pick up a half gallon of milk today.I drove 6 miles to the general store to do so.As i entered the store and headed for the milk cooler,i had to pass by the gun counter.I couldn't help but notice a Rem. 722 in .222 with 26" bbl.,deluxe checkered stock, weaver rings-bases,and nice old Lyman receiver sight looking right at me.Anyway, that damn half gal. of milk cost me $315 and change. When my wife gets home tonight i am going to tell her we have got to stop using milk.Too Expensive!!

For a half gallon? That is expensive! That's just under what I pay for a gallon. I wouldn't have a problem paying more for milk if I knew the small farmer was getting more $$ for his milk. But it's the middle man whose making all the money and the little guy gets a few cents.

GreenLantern, don't listen to your girlfriend's mother!! After you buy the cow it will slow it's milk production to a crawl! G36

G36 - Yeah, that's also why I bought 3 guns last month. I have to get all those must-haves while it's still just my name on the check book :-)

I expect I would pay $315 for a gallon of milk if it always came with premiums like that. The rule in my house is: if I go hunting and don't get anything, I come home, say the rifle has the same problem as the one I used last year and I have to buy a new one. I have been back hunting for 15 years and never killed a thing. Just got back from hunting javelina and the new (old) rifle is on the way!My advice would be to do the grocery shopping more often!

What I want to know is where is it you can go and buy a gallon of milk and a gun at the same register? Other than Wal-Mart? I have visions of a cool old hardware store, run by mom and pop, with some groceries to boot, in the middle of heaven, in nowheresville, but I think you're going to blow my vision of heaven.

My wife won't even let me go to the grocery store with her anymore because every time I do I add about 15-20 bucks to the bill buying cheese, nuts, ice cream and a bunch of other things we could do with out. Man if they sold guns it would be off limits for sure.....besides how do you put them guns in the grocery cart without scratching them all up? OTO

Robsguns-Your vision is closer than you may realize. It certainly is nowheresville.Hussey's General Store. There is a sign by the door that say's--If we don't have it, you don't need it.Not heaven, but close enough.I really like the place. Not so sure about my wife. p.s. I am going to ask her in the morning if we need a loaf of bread or something.
