Brady law?

can anyone explain to me what that law is about?

    It is about:
    1--Folks feeling good that they have "done something" about all that violence

    2--The gun-ban camel getting its neck into the 2nd ammendment tent

    3--no one asking "what's the cost/benifit ratio?" of doing the checks instead of using the resources to actually arrest criminals.


    If you haven't heard the details
    The "good idea" behind it is that when someone tries to buy a handgun at the store (like all good criminals do) they fill out the forms and wait three days for the police to check and make sure you haven't lied about being a felon, etc.

    Then you get to go pick up the weapon, having had time to "cool off" and decide not to blow away your neighbor.

    Idea was first proposed 20(?) years ago, took that long for the "big lie" technique to wear down the opposition/brainwash the rest and when Ms. Brady took it on as a holy crusade afte her husband was shot.

    Funny thing is, before he got shot he opposed gun control, now that he's taken a bullet in the head she's convinced him it's the way to go.

    Sorry if this is a bit of a rant, but it is really sad when fratracide (friendly fire casualties) happens among the first ten ammedments to the Constitution.

    The gun Brady and Reagon was shot with was obtained several months prior to the shooting incident..SO MUCH FOR WAITING PERIODS..I still haven't seen anywhere that the GUN was prosecuted for the offense..seems to me the arrested a HUman..? Go Figure.

    If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

    Its about the wrong Brady getting shot.

    When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

    Wasn't there a Supreme Court ruling on the constitutional issue here? Went our way, too. Summer of 1998 or so? What was the impact on the Brady Law if anything?

    ndBilly..the impact of the Brady Bill..was the sale of Toilet Tissue dropped drastically...one shift was layed off at the Charmin Plant.

    Even if the FBI gives the Proceed answer through the NICS and the state you live in has a longer waiting period, the dealer must wait until the ebd of the states waiting period to proceed with the transfer.

    Did anyone see the 20/20, or primetime show with Mrs. Brady about 6 months ago? She said "just imagine all the peoples lives we have saved" Its a 50 mile drive for me to get to my favorite gun dealer. When I go back and pick up the gun 3 days later, I have to drive 50 miles (each way). I think of Sara Brady on this wasted, and needless trip. I have bought quite a few guns in my life. I guess this law works, I havn't killed anyone yet, but my car has a lot of miles on it.
