A few days ago Nunn posted one on Mosquito Control. Well this
was forwarded to me. I don't know if it works, but I will try
it. Also, last week I mixed up some Miracle Grow/water to feed
the flowers/plants. I left some in a container outside. I went
out yesterday and guess what? MOSQUITOES were growing in the Miracle
Grow water. I quess they will grow just about anywhere.
"MOSQUITOES & VITAMINS
I have an answer to mosquito problems that is so simple
and easy NOBODY believes it. But, after having been
bitten fewer than a dozen times in over
25 years, you can bet I'm convinced it works. Anyone,
including all my family, that tries this has always
been so surprised and happy at the
results that they can't thank me enough.
Thiamin (Vitamin B1). Too easy???? Here's what you have to do:
Take 100 mg daily. That's it. However, since the B vitamins
should be balanced, we all take 100 mg of B complex daily.
It usually takes 3-4 days before you notice that
they don't bite anymore (nor do they buzz you at
night in bed). And when you stop taking them it takes
about the same length
of time before they start attacking you again.
You can double the dose the first few days then
cut back to 100 mg. B vitamins are water soluble,
so anything not needed by the body is passed out
when you urinate, no worry about too much.
Children older that one yearshould only take 50 mg.
Regular B vitamins upset my stomach unless
I eat, so I pay a little more and get the timed-released
kind. You need to take the regular kind about 4-5 PM
so it's in your blood before dark, but the timed-released
kind can be taken anytime and the dosage stays
pretty level all day & night.
I found out by accident years ago while taking
Brewer's Yeast. I noticed they stopped biting me &
happened to mention it to my Doctor. He's the one
who told me that it was Thiamin, but to take the Complex.
Several years later I read a short article in our Florida newspaper saying the same things and then later I
read it in Parent's Magazine recommending
it for children.
I've never known it not to work, but have
been told by a rather large person that he had to go to
200 mg daily and then it worked."
Don't send flowers when I die. Send money now, I can buy more ammo.

the hard stuff we do right away - the impossible takes a little longer
Some caution however...
I have read two accounts that state that after a while, the dose needs to be increased to keep the same level of repellency. (I did not experience this) Also, when you bathe, you wash off whatever it is that the B1 exudes onto your skin, and you are vulnerable for awhile. I can vouch for this for sure. During that BP trip, I waded a stream up to mid calf, then continued on my way. I noticed that the skeets were landing on the "dunked" skin but not on the rest of my legs.
