Question for Ashville NC residents

Is it true Ashville North Carolina has adopted international building codes (United Nations sponsored) that supercede US codes? I heard this from a usually reliable source and need to double check it. Thanks in advance.

    The state of North Carolina has adopted the international plumbing code. I had to buy all new code books. Ant permit pulled after Jan 1 2002 has to follow the new code. I believe it is state wide.
