Oldest daughter wants a gun.

Some where my wife comes up with a picture on the internet of basically a cartriage board, has 61 rifle/shotgun/? rounds and 88 handgun rounds.

Daughter sees this and shows me a cartriage(shell), says she wants a gun to shoot it, and ask what it is, what kind of gun and what it would cost her.

This old boy ain't got a clue except that she would become part of a WELL armed militia if she had such a gun.

My question to you most knowlegible GB folks is what type of gun does she need and what will it cost her to shoot a 25x137 M793 round.

I need an answer for her when she gets back home as she will ask again, she has a pet * that she gives stuborn lessons to.

This is not going to end well.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

    From here: http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/collecting 23-28mm.htm

The most successful of all of the 25mm rounds, the 25x137 Oerlikon, is a standard NATO round, used in a variety of guns, including the Oerlikon KBA, M240 Bushmaster Chain Gun, GAU-12/U five-barrel rotary and the new GAU-22/A four-barrel version for the F-35 fighter, and the Nexter 25M811

Pricing is hard to guess, in collector circles rounds like this run from $25-$125ea, depending on loading and maker.
ETA: I paid $32 for my live TP (Target Practice) 25x137 round

Nope, she scares off/intimidates the type of guys she's attracted too and ignores(or worse) the ones interested in her. I was meaning an actual donkey, it has a size and strength advanage but she is more stubborn.

Am not finding any of those listed on the auction side or am I searching incorrectly?

IF you found a GAU for sale, you wouldn't buy it for her.

Not saying you couldn't. But you seem to be a reasonable man. And so, you wouldn't think it prudent to spend the price of a new car (min) or a small house (max) for the gun that will shoot the round she would like to fire.

You can pick up a used Barrett bolt action for a third of what they cost 10 years ago. See if that hits the spot for her!

I'll have to notify Tony about a typo on his site, as it looks like the M240 is a 30cal, while the M242 is the 25mm
Anyway, you could buy her one of these, she would have every guy in school wanting a ride home from school.

No, I would not buy it, she has to buy her own toys, I still pretty much provide free room and board, she has her full time job as a CNA, full time student in nursing program, pays her auto loan, car ins, and cell phone, leaves quite a bit of disposable income for her, but not enough i'm thinking for the gun. Told her see probably could not find one to buy, now she wants to create the display board she saw the picture of, still quite and undertaking.

Sure she can afford a gun. Mosin Nagants can still be had around a hundred bucks, and while not shooting a shell QUITE that big... a few rounds and she'll be hooked nonetheless!

I say let her get behind a: .223/5.56, then a .243/.260, then a .308 or 30-06, then a short mag, and lastly an RUM. She'll change her tune pretty quick and want one of the reasonable ones.

too late, I don't remember what she shot first, may have been a 20 gauge, she wants me to pull out an ak and 100 rnd drum anytime boys come over to shoot with her brother, has shot 300WSM, 350 Rem Mag, 3 1/2 12 Gauges, pistol wise she has shot 44 mags frequently and is partial to a S&W model 66 357 I have that she plans on being her carry gun when she gets her CC in 2 more years. If anyone else shoots it she will not pass on it.

Well.... It's tough to tell a woman what she should do...
Especially when she does what she wants AND shoots...

My daughter I think is a bit older... But essentially does the same way.
While she doesn't own many... She shoots whatever ANYONE ELSE has shot.
NEVER shying away from what she perceives as a challenge.

Ohhh.... And she loves the 44Mag... The S&W M27 long barrel... Seems like a toy to her anymore.
The boyfriend... Shoots a 40Short&Weak... 'Cause he 'prefers it' over the 44Mag... Right... I understand. [:D]
