Black Hawk Mag Vest Deal ***Revisited***

edited August 2003 in General Discussion
UPS delivered my Vest yesterday evening; I missed them the night before. This thing is great!!!! Very heavy duty not that cheap gun show stuff you see a lot of. I'm amazed how comfortable this thing is, way better that LBE was. Wish I had one of these vests when I was still in the reserves. I put all 12 of my loaded 30rd mags in the pockets & the weight was so well distributed I hardly noticed carrying them. Plus there is all sorts of added features like 2 inside pockets, & attachments on the back for all sorts of crap. This vest is top of the line. If you're like me and you prepare for that unlikely SHTF scenario, you need some way of carting all those mags around with ya. I have to say this is the best I've found so far. If you don't have one yet you gotta get one!

I have the vest in a small duffle fully loaded with my AR broken into 2 pieces in my trunk, can't wait to go show it off at the gun shop!

Kingjoey, you gotta get one!

TE126.jpg

This is kind of a SHTF setup but I just bought one and figured you guys might be interested. $49ea + tax & Shipping = $62 is pretty good deal since they normally go for double in Black Hawk's Catalog. I believe it holds 12 AR mags. You can order them in OD green or black. Good way of transporting mags around. Little less bulky than that LBE but still allow you to hook on your LBE belt.

Nice, I'll have to order one, I was thinking about getting something like that for my river outings, I'd rather bring an M4 but I don't have anything to carry the mags. With the Hakim in hand and the SKS-M+drum in a sling I was one tired pup by the end of the trip, nothing like dragging 25-30lbs of firepower through 4 miles of mud. Going to bring the M4 next time, need the mobility. Let me know how the quality is when you get it, most of the Blackhawk stuff is good.

I just ordered one. $62.58 with shipping and tax. Tax?
I said I'm out of state why do I have to pay tax? She said because they are registered in all 50 states. That sounds like BS to me.
F.Y.I. - BlackHawk is made in Vietnam now a days.

    Drobs,
You surprise me. I didn't think you or many others on this forum are preparing for what may or may not be. I remember you saying something about having an LBE. That's what I have at the moment and it weighs over 30lbs and I still need to add 3 more mags for a total of 8.

Speaking of shipping...I just sent one of the Boogers a package and they charged me $23.66 to ship to a P.O. Box. They said it would have been cheaper to send it to a street address. I'm glad I didn't tell them there was ammo in the box. They probably would have charged me more.

    RugerNiner,

    Gotta be prepared. [8D]
I was suprised by the tax thing too. Galls caters mostly to LEO's that tax thing could have something to do with LE contracts. Who knows.

Its good to see there are some other members here who are prepared/preparing for worst case scenarios. Not many out there. Do any of you have a preparedness group or belong to one??

Not to 2nd guess ya Cwin, but I just gave them a call. They are out of stock on the black vest but still have them in green. You have to make sure to ask for the internet special price of $49.99.

    Mine came in today. [:)]
I didn't set it up yet except to try and put my Silva Ranger compass in the top pouch. It won't fit. That Pees me off. [:(!]

I had to open the vest all the way to get the zipper up. 50" inches my butt. [:(!]

The mag pouches are adjustable for all differant types of mags by velcro on the back of the mag pouch flap. I'm using AK-47's. only one per pouch with those. Heavy Duty Mesh is great. [^]

I'm trying to decide how I want to attach my butt bag. [:p]

    Still can't beat it for $49. [:D] [:D] [8D]

Cool, will have to get one. Saw a lot of other cool stuff on the Gall's website I need too. We used to get gear from them and Quartermasters years ago, but they've got better stuff out now than they used to.

    You should see their Catalog!
    436 Pages!
Mostly Law Enforcement and EMT stuff.
I did get a cop shirt on sale for $10.49. Long sleeve, tuck in and black, has snaps instead of buttons (would not have bought it if I had known that).

Made in Korea. Ruger Niner, put your compass in one of the 2 inside pockets. Heck you could put a 1911 with 2 mags in each inside pocket. I think that very top pocket is for a field dressing. I was checking around the clearance page. They have Level 2 vests on sale for $149.

    Tempting, maybe next paycheck.

You know this jerks my chain a bit. Clearly stated in the description it says; "Multiple Pouches .....or black. Made in USA. Weighs 2 lb., 6 oz. Specify color when ordering."

    Yet it's made in Korea.

Nothing against the folks here that buy'em, but I'll save up my money and buy American.

    Here's a challenge for you 5db.
This vest normally sells for $119.99 + tax & shipping. Go find a comparable tactical vest that is made in the United States by Americans for around the same price. Lets call it $200 to be fair. Link a picture or website for it. Buy it & review it for us here.

drobs, Do you not see any problem with representing something it is not? Come on. Why not advertise it as "Made in Korea"?

But as you asked, visit: http://www.eagleindustries.com/mainprod.asp?scv=0

I have a call into Eagle Industries L.L.C. (Fenton MO. USA) to see what kind of deal we can do here, so stand by.

Can't get the picture here but go to the link above then click on "vests" and then select "Tactical" look at "TAC-V1-N VEST (TAC-V1-N)" at $141.75 it meets your criteria.

    Man you're good.

    This one might be comparable:

    http://www.eagleindustries.com/mainprod.asp?scv=0

But that mesh looks cheap, & that nylon looks really shinny.
Edit: Here's a link to it:

Red boxes indicate cheap material. [:o)]

You know I was looking thru my Black Hawk Catalog at lunch and there is no mention in there at all where their products are made. I think Galls got a little creative here.

Fact is for $62 bucks I pretty damn happy with it. If you want to flame me maybe you could start your own thread on all the the products that you buy that are made in America. Lets start with the electronics in your american car. Where are they made?

drobs, Maybe you missed it, I said "Nothing against the folks here that buy'em, but I'll save up my money and buy American." I wasn't flaming you, just making an observation. The fact you like what you have at 62.00 is good enough for me.

Here is a challenge for you, tell me why Blackhawk does not advertise where their products are manufactured in their catalog.

drobs, Your apology is accepted. I suggested Viet Nam because I bought some of their gear a couple of years ago and found out it was made there.

You did decent thing when you found a good buy and passed it on to fellow GB'rs and I applaud you for it. However, you shouldn't get so emotional when an another point of view is offered.
