Apparently, the democrat party cannot offer a relacement on the ballot, due to New Jersey law.

If NJ. resident voters allow this confirmed thug to pull this
off in order to assure the majority remains democrap by assuring
the replacement of another thug then they truly deserve to live in the state of NJ.

Apparently, the law is quite clear, that they are not allowed to put another Democrat on the ballot. So basically, Toricelli can not be removed, and replaced with someone else.
But that is just the law, McGreedy and the Democrats are not concerned about the law, and insist they will get another Democrat on the ballot.

If your really intrested as to how crooked the dems. have become don't bother to hide, just watch. the only thing the democraps have going for them, is ignorance of the voting public. If they can't be herded they will in every instance vote other than for any office democrap.

Just watched his resignation speech. What a piece of garbage. He was bragging about his votes and creation of gun control laws-and in the next breath talked about how he is a defender of the constitution. All the big wig Jersey democrars are there. McGreedy, Corizine, and Toricelli-everyone patting the crook on the back, and saying how noble it was for him to bail out on the election so as to allow the Dems to keep control of the Senate(law says that will not be the case-but McGreedy says the law doesnt matter)

What is it with the Democrates and elections?

Al Gore looses and trys to get the courts to change the outcome.

Janet Reno looses and goes to court for a recount.

Toricelli's stunt will end up in the Supreme Court.

    ....sore loosers?

Would a normal child at age five write his will? Would a normal person declare Bill Klinton as his hero? What a speech. They all were there on stage , "The Gang Of Three" in a farewell lovefest, McGreedy, Corizine, and Toricelli. This has to be a political ploy since their boy was way behind............sounds like Florida.

So let me get this straight. By him resigning from his senate seat he is allowing the dems to put another democrat on the ballot for the upcomming election. Had he stayed, this could not have been the case???

and with all the crap that Trafficant went through, I think this guy should face the same embarrassment and abuse that traficant went through. At least Traficant was fun to watch, this guy is just a piece of crap.

So is this a good thing that he quit or a bad thing?

nope, the name has to be on the ballot 51 days before the election, execpt in case of death. So if they bother to follow their own laws in Joisey, the republican is the only one on the ballot. Anyone giving odds on that happining?

As long as it was more than X number of days before the election they could substitute another candidate. Now that it is less than X days to the election the democrats, by law, cannot put anyone else on the ballot.

What I don't understand is how the democrats think that the laws don't apply to them? In 2000 the florida county recounts had to be certified by a certain date. Wasn't it 2 counties that didn't make the date yet they still took it to the supreme court? To me the issue should be pretty much black and white. Either he withdrew before the date or he withdrew after the date and that's it.

Presumably there could be a write-in candidate. If his brother counts the votes he might even win.

You all dont understand the law. I heaed a pundit explain the law. The law says that you can change a cadidate up to 51 days before the elction-but it DOESNT say you CANNOT change a candidate 51 days before election. Did you all get that. You all geting this? Because the law does not specifically say that you CANT change a candidate within 51 days before election, it only says you CAN change a candidate up to 51 days before an election, the Dems contened that they can in fact have a sub on the ballot. Boy oh boy whats the point of even bothering with laws.

Found this line in an article on the Time website regarding the issue. If it turns out to be true what's the point of even having laws and regulations?

"While it was not clear as of Tuesday afternoon whether the court would allow a substitute, it's hard to imagine that any court, even one containing, as New Jersey's does, a majority of Republicans, would rule against providing voters with a choice on Election Day."

goes to show how biased the media is on this issue (as well as others). The sad part is, that some dimwit that hasn't got a clue about politics and read that rag for the pictures will probably say that they are right and be upset with the fact that the law won't allow another candidate to run...without knowing the full story and how much of a scumbag ol' bob toricelli was.
