Question 2

It is time to elect a new world leader, and your vote counts.
Here are the facts about the three leading candidates.

Candidate A

Candidate B

He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in
college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

I'm betting you believe the answer to the first question is "no" because you know of a famous person who was the eighth child of such a mother.

I'm betting all three candidates describe actual well-known world leaders.

    Candidate A is FDR.
Candidate B is Winston Churchill. My choice.
Candidate C is Hitler. Don't forget his mistress, Eva Braun.

The first I forget, but the abortion wouldn't have been a good idea.

As to the others... Hitler was the cleanest of the bunch (and last). Churchill was a character to say the least (middle). And my memory isn't serving me well enough to name the first (other than to say that I believe it was one of our "better" presidents). I'd guess FDR, though.

All of which goes to show that 20-20 hindsight is better than common sense, instinct, or first impressions based on a few facts. You left out that "A" & "C" were morally corrupt (in varying degrees, admittedly).

People are normally expected to answer "yes" to this one; then the questioner says, "You've just suggested that Beethoven should have been aborted." (Sometime they'll say Mozart--the name doesn't really matter to the questioner, just as long as it's someone who is generally considered "great".)

Sometimes they include in the question, that the woman was a prostitute too--ofcourse the whole thing is mostly a lie.

When people are emotionally involved in an issue, like abortion, they're not concerned with facts. A fabrication like this question can be perpetuated since nobody bothers to check the facts.

You see a lot of the same sort of nonsense in the "gun control" debate too.

Gotta stir this a bit....I dont really think it makes a bit of difference if she gave birth to Beethoven, she should have had an abortion. I think the possible risks far outweighed the chances for her having a normal baby, and she should have opted for the abortion, if it were an option. I personally could give a crap about it being Beethoven she'd have aborted, great music, but so what, someone else would be all the rage instead, who cares? This is a popular right to life question posed a lot, and since its here before me again I thought I'd stuff my opinion down some right to lifers throats as they always do me.

NO DISRESPECT TO ANYONE WHO DOESNT BELIEVE IN ABORTION, OR TO Harleeman. We all make our own decisions, and live with the consequences, good or bad, just like the gun issue.

Sure would have been the greatest thing to ever happen to the Jewish population if Hitler's mother had gotten an abortion before he had the chance to do his evil deeds, now wouldnt it? Like I always say, some people just need to be killed, if they could be identified before birth, dont even think I wouldnt be willing to do it. Cold hearted, sick, twisted, immoral? Sure it may be to some, but so is the destruction of a group of people just because of their way of life that hurt no one.

As to #2: I personally believe choice #1 would be my pick if the only info. I had were what is presented. Why? Number 3 is clearly a freak: Vegetarian, doesnt smoke, and seldom drinks, not your average man in touch with the common man's needs. #2 Used drugs, shows weakness, sleeps too damn much, wont get squat done, and is a known worthless politician for being kicked out of office previously, no brainer there, garbage into the office, garbage out of the office. #1 seems to have all his faults already out in public, smokes, so what?, I dont but thats my choice, likes to drink about what I would if I thought I could get away with it and still function correctly, he, he, and apparently isnt completely happy with his wife and has decided to commit a moral sin. Last time I checked the sins in the bible were not categorized as to their severity, and some dont even believe in the bible, so take it for what its worth. Now for all of you who have never cheated on your wife, or thought about doing it if you thought you'd be able to get away with it, koodos, but for the rest of us that know damn well we would if 'THE' opportunity of a life time presented itself, candidate #1 clearly isnt such a bad guy. Popular facts of life being presented in public by me? NO! Correct representation of the average male of the human species?, you betcha.

Opinions are great, everyone has one, and you can get them for free.

    competentone --
Precisely. That's why I phrased my response in the second post, above, as I did: "I'm betting YOU BELIEVE THE ANSWER to the first question is no, because...." If the answer is yes, it's easy to say something like "you've just killed Helen Keller" and everyone's supposed to feel bad. Hahahaha!

As for the second question, letter "C" could be any number of U.S. Presidents. And since the behaviors described in A and B also probably apply to a number of "great men," there are most likely no single right answers to either one.

I didn't even realize that you may have writing about real life people and I guess that these other guys are probably right about who they are.
Not knowing any of that my first answer is no. It doesn't matter if the unborn child ended up famous or not, it is an innocent life already living and can contribute to society no matter what handicap they may suffer. They could have been retarded but inspired somebody to trust and love as completely as retarded people do. Life is life, no matter what others may determine as a "worthy life".
I would have to go with candidate number 2, because he sounds like many people I know and I'm related to. He was probably kicked out of office for speaking truths that the other politicians don't want to hear or accept. Everybody has to have a vice, nobody is free from sin. That third character sounds like what people may want, but most people that are like that are at the minimum obsessive-compulsive. The first does blatant things that are against the Bible and I just cannot condone that.

    hbhc,
What blatant things would that be?? Having 2 mistresses? And I suppose the other 9 commandments that exist, that each and every one of us breaks every day of our lives, at least one of them that is, dont count? Anyone who is asked a question of any type and doesnt tell the truth is guilty of lying, I dont think I need to remind anyone of that, and as I said before, the sins are not ranked by those of most important to least important. So who cares if the guy has had 2 mistresses, I dont. Edit..so long as its not while hes in office, to disgrace the nation. What he does on his own time is his business. Oh and by the way, I seem to recall that in the old testament there were those that had more than one wife and were not given the title of sinner specifically for that reason. Goes against the bible? Ha!! I need a better reason than that to condemn someone's actions. Just say it, it goes against your idea of what is right and wrong. Now that I would not argue with, that would be a statement of truth, conviction in your beliefs, that no one should question. Dont take this personal, many people would feel the same as you do, I'm simply looking at it from the other side of the fence.

Don't have my Bible handy. But I'm talking about consulting astrologists. I can't remember the passage, but there's a pretty big part (in the Old Testament) where it discusses astrology, witchcraft, and the like. In this chapter, it says outright that those things are of the Devil. It was that AND consorting with crooked politicians. I know that ALL politicians are crooked in one way or other but this statement says to me that this person is indeed a "politician" and therefore is not to be trusted.
The mistress part, is a sin. Not that it is any less of a sin, but I know so much of that being in the military, I just can't hold that against anybody. I understand the "temptations" and even that is a sin in itself. I'm not saying that the sins are ranked but the ones that are blankly told that are of the Devil, seem to be more taboo by the way the wording is stressed.
