Today at the gun show I saw a Marlin in .219 zipper. It was pretty beat up. A few years ago I passed on a really decent one that included a set of RCBS dies and a stash of brass. Price then was $300.00 Today I found myself saying "I should have bought that". I'm wondering what gun's you guys have passed up and later regretted.WOODS

Back in the 80's I was looking at an AUG. I had the money but said I would rather have an AR. Well today the AUG is 3 times the price of the AR. Never thought there would be such a thing as a gun ban. I still wake up in cold sweats about a gun ban.

Passed up a preban bushmaster with scope a few months back for $800. Thought that I should have bought it to make a few $$ on it but then realized I'd wouldn't end up parting with it.

In 1994 just after the ban, I could have bought--probably just about as many as I wanted--Butler Creek 25-round 10/22 mags for about $12 each.Should have bought about a thousand or two...

Brand new SIG 220, with all papers etc. for $1300+tax. That same week went to a gun show and almost fell when I saw what people were asking for the used ones. Up to this day, I still kick myself in the butt for letting that deal fall through.-smooth

Some years back a guy wanted to trade me a 96 Mauser pistol with stock and harness he recovered from a Jap tank. I had an Ordnance marked Savage 720 shotgun. I reneged and traded it for an ElTigre Winchester 92 copy that turned out to be a hunk of junk.BAAD judgement!

Oh yeah! About 4 months ago I went into Cabela's Gun Room and saw a fair condition 1895 Winchester in .405 for $1295. What made it special is that it had the import marks of a Calcutta, India Gun Supplier. The condition wasn't great which led me to believe that it had probably been on more than a fair share of Tiger hunts. I hesitated and went home. When I realized I was being stupid about the condition I went back and...you guessed it it was gone. Dumb dumb dumb....when I left the first time I knew in my heart I was doing the wrong thing. As old as I am I'd have thought I had learned by now. Beach

I just got home from a gun show, saw 1 Garand for 300.00, in rough looking condition, but probably should have bought it, now I'm wondering why I didnt buy it, the only thing I can figure is I really wasnt looking for one, and never wanted one bad enough to buy a junky looking one, even if I could fix it up.

Sure. A buddy of mine had an FFL before Uncle Sam and the BATF became Big Brother. I had ordered an OA-93 AR-type .223 "pistol" wholesale through him. The price was around $400 and change. Then the word came down from the government and OA decided to stop production of the model because of the exchangeable AR magazines. They offered to send me my OA-93 from the remaining stock anyhow but wanted to charge me $800. Money was a little tight so I turned them down at what I thought was a premium price. Now, of course people are asking four or five grand for them and OA only makes a similar model with a welded magazine.

In the late 70s I looked at a Fox Sterlingworth, nicely engraved.I passed at $150.In the late 80s the stock market took a dump and a customer needed money real bad.Price keep coming down.I told the boss I'd be a player at 15k,sorry he said,I just bought it for 13 grand.Lambo V-12 400 GT.Boss sold it less than a year later for 225K.I guess that one I didn't pass on,but just missed.Still have a bad taste in my mouth though.........and that's how my luck runs.

1962 panhead in running shape, $800 because the owner did not want to move it cross country.1956 Thunderbird for $1550.1958 Vette for $800.1967 Chevrolet Biscayne 2-door, with a 427 completely tricked out, $1600.Darne 20 gauge shotgun weighing about 5 pounds, $300.Smith & Wesson Model 28 cop trade, $80.Ruger #3, 200th year, caliber .45-70, $165.Of course, most of these opportunities came to me when I was much younger and had NO money. Funny how these chances don't seem to show up when you can afford them.

Model 1973 Win. 38-40 if I remember right. I was appraising guns in an estate and this fine old rifle came out. I did not want to seem to be taking advantage of the situation. I found out later the rifle I appraised at $1100 sold for $350.

CARS? Way too many of them, passed on. But the one that sticks in my craw was a '65 vette, one year after I bought my '66.(1982).It was not drivable, but almost. Body was rough, and the interior was almost non-existant. But it still had the original motor in it. For you 'vette guys, it was a 396 cu in motor. sick, sick, sick

Sandman,Some years ago I rebuilt a 65 vette with the 375HP 396....front was completely gone, rough interior, some jerk tried to remove what paint was left with a grinder...destroyed the gelcoat and rest of the body. Took two years and about $50,000 to make her perfect again....next to the 57 Fuelie, that's a very sought after car...
