8mm. overkill

i have an 8mm. turkish mousser, and at 100yds. it is a little difficult to place a shot exactly where i want it with open sights.(maybe because of its condition)but this resulted in blowing out some tenderloins.I like the 8mm. for its stoppin and droppin power, but now i aim for the head.i was wondering if this is considered an overkill or unnessasary.they still fall over like a tipped cow.

if your having a bad day,go out and kill something and you will feel much better.

Are you for real? If you can't make an accurate lung shot I can't see how you can make head shots.

Gunpower, I am making a citizen's arrest on you. Your post don't smell right. You can't spell Mauser, you don't know that a head shot is harder than a lung shot, you hunt with a rifle that either is unfit to shoot[though Turk Mausers tend to be accurate at 100 yds for deer hunting] or else you don't know how to sight it in, and your slogan sounds like something made up by a misguided spy from that Democrat web site. Go back to your home page and do the world of liberals a favor by giving Rosie some diet advice [by the way venison is nutritious and low fat] or seeing what you can do to help Clinton's love life.

The 8mm is too small, get a 375 H&H magnum and aim for the center of the deer.

I've heard the German 88 is the answer to about anything. Head...Lungs... It won't matter at 100 yds or 1000!

It's a good stopping power round. Have you considered having the bore checked and maybe some custom work. For that matter maybe get a few more of them jokers since they are so inexpensive. Then you can just tote the most accurate one and use the others fer custom projects. A scope ain't a bad idea either, if you can get it drilled.

Did your mouser come with a bayonet? If so, on this forum we consider that the sporting thing to do is jump on 'em from a tree stand and "stick 'em"

Gunpowder: I would check the ammo, fire the rifle from a bench rest. Use a gun vise or something to hold it still. Fire a few shots, check the impact, make corection, fire again until 1.75in high on the bull @ 100yards this should give you dead nutts @ 200yards (With no wind). This round does have some power, try new factory ammo,I do not recommend zeroing in that old 8mm surplus stuff! Also don't start with the hottest load out there. If the bore is "warn" you should be able,to benchrest @100yards and hit within a 8" circle. Thats a close call on a deer, maybe hit, maybe not. I have a smoothbore mossberg 12ga 9200 autoloader, and at 100yards I'm in the same area of error as you, with brenneke slugs of course. By the way Gunpowder went to the headshot to save meat, not waste it!I think this is sporting because he would rather miss a kill than waste the game. Personally I would go for the kill, butt I prefer my Mini-30 or AK-47 or Ar-15 so a head shot iron sight isn't to out of my grasp even at 200. Good luck. To all the people with more knowledge than I with shooting, you should help folks this guy asked a question and everyone is B.s ing.Come on fun is fun. Shoot I wanted to say just Nuke the freak'in deer, but I did'nt. Oh.. A... Well... Maybe I Did! Really you'll be good to 150 easy

    Shoot straight!
