This weekend my family and I are going to go visit some relatives somewhere in Skagit County (not sure which town). We haven't done any shooting in that area for a decade or so and want to know where there is a legal safe place we can do some plinking. Basic directions would be appreciated. Thanks,Tony

There's a great gravel pit on the South Skagit Highway. I use it a lot.Go east on State Highway 20 to Sedro Woolley. Turn south (right)onto State Highway 9. Go about two miles and just after you cross over the Skagit River take the next right. This puts you going east on the South Skagit Highway.Go about 15 miles and watch for the pit on your right. It is a Skagit County Road Dept. pit but everybody uses it with no problem. The gate will probably be locked (just a single bar gate), so just park on the road and walk into the pit. If the gate's open you can pull your rig on in.If that's too far for you to go, just about any logging road off of the South Skagit Hwy. is cool. Just pull up a ways off the main Hwy. and blast away.
