Ok, now I'm a die hard Remington fan. Except for my singles, all I own is Remington. Now comes time to buy for Junior and maybe a new one for me. What brand rifle gives the best value for less money than Remington? Browning is a big no no, cost more than a Rem.

If you want my guns you will have to kill me first. I was born free and to take that from me you better be ready to fight.

I believe the cheapest bang for your buck BOLT action would be a Savage. I dont really like them as much as Remington, Winchester, etc., nor my beloved Ruger, however, its the cheapest BOLT action I know of, and they are accurate, I just dont appreciate their aesthetics.

Savage or Tikka. Personally will take a Tikka any day over the others in that price range.

The CZ line is worth looking into, and there (single set) trigger is great right out of the box

have to agree with the savage answer. I bought a 30-06 from wal mart for 150 bucks. it was on red tag clearance at the end of the season. havent seen em that cheap since then though.
