the wife has been wanting new wood floors in kitchen/dining room for years. This year the kids had a friend who lays tile and donated some woodgrain tile from a leftover job. anyway I am sitting here in the living room staring at two china cabinets, cook stove, and refrigerator. they moved it all in so they can tile the kitchen. will have a mess for few days I guess I can live with that, It is nice having the refrigerator within arms length of the recliner....[;)]

even though it is free, I would still prefer to have the carpet, its not as cold on the feet....[V]

There are some really nice wood grain tiles out there. Had some installed in the master bath in the last place I owned. Plan to have some more laid in this one.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I won't have anything but tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms. Makes spills and water, an easy clean up. Once the carpet absorbs any spills, your done. That and the smell and stains. I hate linoleum, so that is out. We had that in our bathroom and it leaked water from the tub under it, and lifted it up. Plus the wear and tear of it , doesn't hold up well. We are use to the tile floors. Another thing you can do Paul is, if you have a boiler heating system, install radiant, in floor heating. If you don't want to do that, just wrap some pvc or pecs tubing,, under the floor in basement or crawl space. It will keep the floor a warm temp. Oakie
