check/inspect your sling? Couple other post got me thinking and I must admitt I've been really lacks on this. I would be so mad to have a sling fail and my gun go to the ground damaging the gun, scope, zero of scope, ect. Indirectly or not the other recent post about slings woke up something in my noggin. Thanks guys. I'm going be way more mindful of this.

I had that exact thing happen once I took off the sling to sight it in before deer hunt one year put it back on when I was done.

Got up on the mountain and got ready threw it across my back and took off didn't make a hundred yards when it went off backwards. i was able to grab the butt between my elbow and body but the bbl hit the ground.

it was one of those slide the bar over and screw it in types I forgot to screw it in, Didnt hurt the gun and still shot right on But was worried all morning till I could find a suitable sight in target again

I check and then double check my slings to make sure they are secure and also check the safety. I have always been afraid of what happened to sawz. Would cry if one of my rifles hit the ground behind me.

I rub in Neat's foot oil if needed occasionally. Have some vintage slings kept looking new for years by doing so.

I was 10-11 yrs. old and wanted my own gun. I started saving every 5? from returned feed sacks.

The money burned a hole in my pocket so I bought a leather(military type) 'sling' ,,,,,I had no rifle but by gawd I had a sling,,,,,,[:D]

Still have it on my 'go to' rifle ,,,,,,,[^]

I don't think I even have a gun lying about that has a sling on it. No reason to but if I go out.......
